Our fucked up elections

Last edited Sat Mar 23, 2024, 02:38 PM - Edit history (1)

No one except die hard Trumpers think TSF can win the popular vote. Yet we face the very real danger of him being President again.
A man who the country will never vote for might still take office.
Something very wrong with that.

Added: The minute a Democrat gets in because of the EC the Repukes will move heaven and earth to change it.

It's state of the art democracy circa 1789.

We should have ditched it decades ago.

White slave owning males were terrified of "the mob"--meaning the majority of the population--so they created this as a mechanism to ensure when push came to shove "property"--whether in the form of chattel or land--would always win.

It serves pretty much the same purpose today. Bush II and Trump would never have been president if not for this poison pill.

Like, just spitballing, maybe there's a popular vote lead plateau you reach after which the EC doesn't kick in.

Actually, what I find even scarier is how it works if the election is thrown to the House.

What, then, gives Americans the gravitas to demand "democracy" of other nations?
Shouldn't Americans clean up their own yard before demanding it of others?
