N.J. houses of worship get 'bleeding control kits' for potential mass shootings

By Brianna Kudisch | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

Members from different houses of worship were invited earlier this month to gather at Guru Nanak Mission Gurudwara, a worship space for Sikhs in Oakland in Bergen County.

But, they weren’t there for a worship service. Instead, they gathered on a Friday night to participate in a training session and receive a key item — a bleeding control kit.

The state Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness began distributing bleeding control kits to thousands of houses of worship in New Jersey this month. The kits are designed to give churches, mosques, synagogues, temples and other places of worship medical items to treat victims of potential active shooters before first responders arrive at the scene.

The state will provide roughly 7,100 bleeding control kits to 6,400 houses of worship within one year as part of the program’s first phase, officials said.

This is the insanity that gun worshipers have created in our society.

8. CELOX Gauze is supposed to work well, a necessity if someone is taking blood thinners like Eloquis.

I was on Eloquis and got a 6-in laceration on my shin and the blood came out like water. I had first aid training and packing the wound with normal gauze only slowed the bleeding until I got to the hospital.

My brother talked afterwards and he told me about CELOXs because he goes camping and hiking and if you cut yourself, minutes count. This is to also assist in deep arterial wounds too. With deep cuts, you tear some off and pack the wound cavity before applying several sheets to the top of the wound along with pressure, followed by wrapping.

I gave one to my BIL who is on Eliquis and one to my neighbor two houses down who is older and has heart issues.

Seconds count.

use them. CPR and automatic defibrillators at places where there are lots of "targets of opportunity"
i.e. crowds..
Get them treated with in the "golden hour" and the victims might have a chance..

As a university employee, I've been through several trainings. Currently, they now advise to run and also to be trained to stop blood loss because if someone is shot it may take a long time for first responders to actually get to your location in the midst of all the chaos.
The last university police officer I worked with on this advised I get training for my staff on how to stop bleeding.

In place of a meeting last year. We know how bad Missouri is so we thought it was important.

As told by John Denver. Instead of fixing the problem, it’s literally putting a band aid on it.

9. It is not insanity to have these kits.

I have them in my cars and my home. They are very cheap. And it has nothing to do with guns. Accidents can happen anywhere at anytime. It is insane to think if there is an accident or incident that calling 9-1-1 will take care of it. It won't. Real life is not TV shows.
