Sun Mar 24, 2024, 08:09 PM
Mar 2024

President Biden’s bleeding support from key voters. In an interview published Saturday with New York Times opinion columnist Maureen Dowd, Carville voiced concerns about the culture of the Democratic Party and how it could be impacting Biden’s support among voters, especially those that are male.

“A suspicion of mine is that there are too many preachy females … ‘Don’t drink beer, don’t watch football, don’t eat hamburgers, this is not good for you,'” he said. “The message is too feminine: ‘Everything you’re doing is destroying the planet. You’ve got to eat your peas.'” Carville, who was a strategist for former President Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, argued this culture and rhetoric is not addressing the concerns of male voters.

“If you listen to Democratic elites — NPR is my go-to place for that — the whole talk is about how women, and women of color, are going to decide this election. I’m like: ‘Well, 48 percent of the people that vote are males. Do you mind if they have some consideration?” Carville said.

When it comes to Biden’s low approval ratings, Carville quipped, “When I look at these polling numbers, it’s like walking in on your grandma naked. You can’t get the image out of your mind.”

N.Y. Times columnist Maureen Dowd has a very long history of waging false attacks against democrats. Dowd was one of the ring leaders of the media's war against Al Gore in 2000 that's well documented in the archives at the Daily Howler which can be found at www.dailyhowler.com. Carville wrongly took Dowd's bait. He really should know better. I wonder if "preachy females" is how Carville thinks of his own 2 daughters or is how he would want them treated by some sexist old guy?

Triangulation and pandering to the right made some sense in the politics of the 1990's - memories of Reagan were still fresh, and there was hope that the toddlers that had taken control of the House could be spoken to like adults.

We don't live in that world anymore. Gingrich and his co-conspirators were reluctant to compromise, but red-hatters are a whole 'nother level of bubble dweller. I don't think Carville completely gets that.

Mon Jun 10, 2024, 12:49 PM
Jun 2024

For decades and thanks to the gender gap, women have been bailing out the dems and have gotten nothing for their efforts. For too long the dem party and Congressional leadership have paid lip service to women's issues and voting rights and then run like scarred rabbits when they actually have to defend these important rights. There's no better example than Florida 2000. A post election analysis by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights found that most of the uncounted Florida votes were the votes of low income, African American women. I'll always remember then DNC chair Ed Rendell publicly urging Al Gore to end his fight to have the uncounted Florida votes counted while Senate dems hid in their cushy, ivory Washington towers rather than defend we the people's right to vote. I guess the voters needed to have the ability to right big campaign contribution checks in order to get their right to vote defended. The failure of Senate dems to act in 2000 is why our country suffers so terribly today with the threat of tRump today and women now no longer having the right to control their own bodies.

In 1972, Martha Mitchell, wife to then attorney general John Mitchell, was kidnapped, brutalized when she attempted an escape, and then drugged to keep her from spilling the beans about Watergate to the press. You need to understand that the N.Y. Times was a ring leader along with the Washington Post in the media's war against Al Gore in 2000 with Maureen Dowd being a critical member of the Times attack squad. The archives at the Daily Howler provides the only written record of the media's war against Al Gore in 2000 while at the same time they praised and drooled over Bushthief. You can find the Daily Howler archives at www.dailyhowler.com. I haven't bought the N.Y. Times or the Washington Post since 2000 because of what they did to Al Gore and ultimately our country and I never will. The media's coverage of the 2000 Presidential election was the worst in my lifetime and our country is now paying a terrible price for it.
