Side by side in the New York Times, as though theyre equally importantone about felony criminal charges of Trump trying to overthrow democracy. The other about
Biden not wearing a tie.

(52,545 posts)And Biden is very well groomed and presidential. Bill Clinton always looks comfortable in his own skin. These guys don't need a damn tie!

(61,033 posts)Now trump, in that ridiculous morning coat with the white vest hanging four inches too long, looks like a country bumpkin straight off the turnip truck and venturing into the city...bigly badly.
Bigly badly...hey, that's a good term for trump from now on.

(68,793 posts)The story about Trump ran on page A18, in the first section, with the rest of the news of national importance.

The story about the fundraiser ran in the Style section.

(68,793 posts)IIRC, he wore a top hat to the inauguration, but after that, he broke with the Eisenhower and Truman (ESPECIALLY Truman) tradition of regularly wearing a hat.
You will not be surprised to learn that the Washington Post has a Style section, where you can read all about what Beyoncé wore to the Oscars. That stuff doesnt make it to the first section.
I hate it when people lie to me in an attempt to win an argument.
And good afternoon.

(129,722 posts)And I don't like false comparisons either. NYT sucks sometimes, but not on account of this apples-and-rutabagas nonsense.

(129,722 posts)I once had a boyfriend who had a seersucker suit which he wore with a bowtie. He looked like a pretentious dork - which, as it turned out, he really was.
But I don't write for the Style section.
mahatmakanejeeves
(68,793 posts)That might explain it
Gotta disagree with you here. Seersucker is great stuff. I can see where bow tie with same might be a bit much, unless youre going for the Orville Redenbacher look.
Ocelot II
(129,722 posts)a pretentious dork. You can't even hope to get away with that getup unless you're pushing 50. And it gets hot in Minnesota in the summer but seersucker looks like pajamas anyhow.
PatSeg
(52,545 posts)was a good look? Even the name sounds super dorky!
And corduroy! What was the point of corduroy?
Ocelot II
(129,722 posts)When your thighs rub together as you walk they make a voop-voop-voop sound.
PatSeg
(52,545 posts)I didn't know if I was the only person who remembered having that experience. That was when I questioned the existence of corduroy. I can still picture those pants (navy blue) and I can hear the sound whenever I walked!

Mr. Evil
(3,449 posts)Corsets - evil and also deadly.
Girdles - very bad and I can only imagine how uncomfortable they are.
Bras - helpful if you're physically active but, around the house, leave them in the drawer.
Ties - I just find it hard to function when wearing one while choking the entire time.

(114,503 posts)after childbirth and after menopause. They were iinvented before corsets but the corset came in as a back brace for women who had to much out stables, haul water, and generally wreck their bodies usually while pregnant.
Girdles, however, were only useful as a date rape prevention. They worked if the guy was too shitfaced to figure them out.

I originally applauded Garland as AG because he's an antitrust guy. He's done less than nothing to break up these big monopolies.
Don't expect to read anything approaching the truth when it comes to US politics in US news. It's just not going to happen.

(3,618 posts)... has devolved into a 3rd rate partisan rag, and can no longer be trusted to report on anything political without perverting it to maintain the illusion of some kind of horse race to boost clicks and to cast Biden in a negative light. They are willingly doing Putin's job for him, as well as saying, "Yes, Masters" to our own oligarchs who want their useful idiot back in the Oval Office so they can use his clown show as misdirection while they dismantle democracy and create a new feudalism from which there will be no escape.
And then there are the "Christian" (?) Nationalists who are even more dangerous than Trump; they have Gawd on their side, so no crime will be too heinous if they claim their Sky Daddy said it's alright.
Shit's getting too real, too fast.
