(19,156 posts)I'll take it as a win. The one I'm referring to despises Trump. But they also think abortion and gays are the biggest problems Americans face. (
) They live in a state that is solid blue. I'll take a 3rd party vote as a moral victory in THIS case. Although I still try to convince them that Biden is very good on other things, and really they should trust God more on those other issues - they are fundamentalist, of course.
But for anyone who is remotely likely to vote Democrat, I agree with you.

(3,138 posts)My parents in law are never Trump republicans. They are conservative Christians, and they believe a lot of things about the Democratic party that I think is bullshit. They are not bad people, though, and they know that Trump is a fake Christian, a criminal, an anti-democratic menace, and a Putin sycophant.
I doubt that they will vote for any Democrats, but they won't vote for Trump and don't think he's an acceptable candidate. Its unfortunate, but people like this hear a lot of lies and bullshit about Biden and Democrats from people in their community, and they aren't aligned with liberal policy goals. It's hard to counteract that. I can empathize to a degree. If the Democratic party got taken over by a would be autocrat, it would be really hard for me to hold my nose and vote for Liz Cheney or someone else who I disagree with on basically everything other than the value of the constitution and maintaining a republic.
I'm thankful that Democrats are better at marginalizing psychopaths and whackjobs within their ranks.
