(2,508 posts)Trump supports a ban on immigration from Islamic countries, a "loyalty" test from those already here, opposes citizenship for "Dreamers" and many immigrants already here, wants to cancel student visas, oh- and is in favor of arming Israel and would love to see Palestine annihilated.
But yeah, he'll probably be great for the anti-Israeli crowd.

ETA: On further reflection, it doesn't even make sense for TSF to vote for himself. He's already "served" as president, he has plenty of kompromat on everyone important, he obviously hates the work at which he rather sucked, he can sell confidential US intelligence and secrets as he likes, he already has a cult following, and he's clearly not going to be held accountable legally for all his crimes so even that purpose diminishes. There's no good reason in the world for him to want the job back -- he can simply retire loudly and gracelessly, to pass the remaining years in Florida cheating at golf as he would do anyway if elected. No need to go to all this trouble really, he has enough judges and bureaucrats in his pocket to keep him safe enough, minus a pesky civil case here and there.
Whatever motivates his 2024 campaign (probably 80% revenge + 20% misogyny and racism) is irrational, disconnected, and will likely harm himself and others. Which should scare us even more.

(21,349 posts)in any way but...just for the record maybe somebody should ask them or preferably ask Hamas what they expected the reaction would be to their October 7 attack on Israel. I mean, they knew Israel had all sorts of U.S. weaponry and support and a radical RW government led by an uncompromising "strongman." The horrifying result was entirely predictable but they apparently didn't care or were too stupid to see it.

(406 posts)Bibi allowed the attack. He was aware. He wanted to use it. And Im no expert but I bet Hamas also wanted the attack to galvanize support against a government that has been extremely oppressing them forever. Anyone who just supports Israel reminds me of Republicans supporting Bush invading Iraq. And whats happens? Civilians suffer everywhere as usual.

(29,276 posts)I just hate-read the most deeply stupid article criticizing Colbert and Kaling for hosting the Three Presidents event because if you're nice to Democrats for one second you are bad. All roads lead to Gaza and Biden controls everything that happens on the planet. These people need a new word to describe them. It's a new type of stupid. Or is it? I don't even know.

"The People's Forum" is organizing and conducting anti-Israel protests across the country.

==============================
Singham launders his funding of pro-Hamas, anti-Israel, anti-Biden "protests" through the Goldman Sachs Philanthropy Fund which distributes "charitable donations" at the direct request of donors.
The Influence Watch page on The People's Forum:
In 2019, The Peoples Forum received $12 million through the Goldman Sachs Philanthropy Fund, a donor-advised fund provider. This was not the first time the Forum received a hefty sum in this manner: it was given $4,400,000 in 2018 and $2,500,000 in 2017 through the Philanthropy Fund.

(20,400 posts)After airstrikes started in Yemen, he went on a Facebook rant about voting for Trump because fuck Biden, apparently.
Him, his parents, his brother, and his sister are all Muslim immigrants. He once asked me for advice on buying a gun for self defense during the Trump administration because of the anti-Muslim sentiment from the MAGA's.
I still can't wrap my mind around it. I haven't spoken to him in person for a few months now.

(21,127 posts)A Houthi court sentenced nine men to death on charges of sodomy, Human Rights Watch has found, while sentencing an additional 23 men to prison.
An investigation by the organization revealed that the 32 men were sentenced earlier this year on January 23. The nine death sentences included crucifixion and stoning, and an additional three were sentenced to public flogging, marking one of the most harrowing cases of civilians being sentenced for immoral acts" under the conservative Islamist regime.
In an abhorrent disregard for the rule of law, the Houthis are handing down death sentences and subjecting men to public mistreatment without a semblance of due process, Niku Jafarnia, Yemen and Bahrain researcher at Human Rights Watch, said in a statement. The Houthis are using these cruel measures to distract from their failure to govern and provide people in their territories with basic needs.
The sentences were handed down after "egregious violations of Yemens own criminal procedural code," according to the organization. This included "blatant due process violations" such as law enforcement failing to provide arrest warrants and unlawfully confiscating the mens phones.

(34,852 posts)I know the left is generally critical about Israel.
However, groups like Nation of Islam have spread anti-Semitism due to their pro-Palestine, anti-Israel collaboration with Arabs in the Middle East. Way back in the early 60's, they effectively projected Palestine's problems as problems in the US. Their view was fringe at the time. They broke civil rights relationships with Jews in the US. I did not realize until recently how mainstream this has become. In their efforts to be pro-Palestine, anti-Semitic propaganda has also been spread.
The US support for Israel has been merged into a cause célèbre. How much we support Israel is debatable, but sadly the Middle East is not a happy place. It doesn't matter where you live in the Middle East. It doesn't matter how much we support Israel or don't support Israel. The Middle East is just not a happy place. It's a place where the public traditionally does not trust governments. This might be one reason why a two-state solution just isn't popular.
