(3,770 posts)Im not a Christian and I know at least a couple of versions. Obviously he never went to church or Sunday school as a kid. It should be really embarrassing for the MAGATs but I doubt if even 25 are appalled by this.

(3,770 posts)How on earth did he ever get through even one year without having to recite it forever. On the other hand maybe Norman Vincent Peale didnt do that kind of thing. Dont know. But both the Congregationalist and the Unitarians as well as the camp chaplains/church services did. Must be I lived in a different universe than trump. Still wish I did.

(16,724 posts)I don't remember "learning" it; I think I must have just absorbed it from hearing it and then saying it all those times in church.
If I'm ever in a Catholic Church (which I haven't been since my fil's funeral over 20 years ago), I always have to remind myself to stop after "Deliver us from evil." I forgot a couple of times, and it was embarrassing.
I don't know why Catholics don't include "for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever and ever." That was always my favorite part, as a kid. Ah, childhood memories.

(16,724 posts)A while back, I stumbled across this photo of his confirmation class at First Presbyterian in Jamaica, Queens:
Can you guess which one is TSF? I think it's pretty obvious, but I'll put the answer in a reply, just case.

(6,891 posts)I wouldn't bet money on him attending more than half the classes.
Cub Scouts and Cathechism classes are where I first learned about 'participation' awards.
Mainly because I was the kid who was there all the time and did all the work, but that really wasn't necessary to be there on picture day.

The Lords Prayer, the Apostles Creed, Psalm 100, and Psalm 23. And did I mention that I was in fourth grade at the time?
