Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAfter today, I will find a different doctor for my DOT physical!
I walked in to the clinic and Fox News is on and I had to hear all the hypocrisy from the doctor and the other people that were in there. I blanked them out & ignored the rhetoric. But they tried to get me into the flames and I restrained myself.
He is a nice enough guy, but a doctor shouldnt push his views on his clients, period.

(34,189 posts)My long time dentist retired and I didn't like the dentist he referred me to so I tried a different one. Same deal, they had Faux Noise on in their waiting room and the entire time he was poking around in my mouth, the dentist was running on and on about ring wing crap. This was long before TFG made it to office, thank goodness.
I just never made another appointment and found a different dentist. He's also since retired, but his replacement doesn't talk about politics at all.

(5,351 posts)Fox News being played on the TV in the pharmacy section at a grocery store. I said I come to pick up my medications, not for an attempt at indoctrination by a partisan corporation that often spreads misinformation. It was only on when this one employee on duty, so I imagine he selected what was on it.
Next time I went in a local 24 hour news broadcast was on, and I never saw it again on Fox. A few years ago they took the t.v. out all together. The office my PCP is located in has a t.v. but they always have HGTV on.

(28,493 posts)any office with a waiting room thinks it's necessary to have a TV on. Period. I've been known to turn them off.

(2,047 posts)They don't want you thinking about time, especially about how slowly time seems to pass when you are bored.
So they put in a TV to distract you, although if it's not in tune with your in-group beliefs it becomes infuriating.
This was a long-standing problem at the Milwaukee V.A. hospital where R-wing activists would go thru waiting rooms changing channels to promote their viewpoints.
With a new hospital director that changed. Now the televisions only show "informational" video from a VA source

(28,493 posts)while waiting. So a TV is completely unnecessary. Me, I always have a book in my purse and read.

(10,293 posts)Funny thing though, the North American/Asian model is listed at $24.99 while the European version goes for $19.99. I wonder why??
Do our airwaves have more bandwidth to sift through?
Maybe they figure our market will tolerate more squeezing without squawking, kind of like what the pharmaceutical/insurance companies do?
Or maybe the ones sold here require bigger shovels for all the right-wing bullshit?
Interesting though, whatever the reason.

I particularly don't like them when in the dentist chair and the hygenist gets distracted by it.

Most are non-conversational. With only 10 to 15 minutes to spend with you, they don't have time for much more than "Hi how you doing?.

(39,154 posts)The doctor told me that I must not be praying hard enough and if I just trusted in the Lord everything would work out. I was flabbergasted and refused to pay my co-pay. (Sadly, my insurance company paid most of it) When pressed for payment of that co-pay, I told them that I went to a neurologist, not a faith healer, and he was utterly useless. I never got another bill.
I complained to my GP, who was appalled and dropped him from his referral list. He then referred me to a competent neurologist and got help. I still can't believe that clown had a medical license.
Nowadays, the doctors/dentists I go to all have HGTV on their televisions which is fine except I never get to see how the renovations turned out because I'm always called back before the big reveal, lol.

(2,937 posts)That is all the proof you need that he has very questionable judgement and morals and makes very bad decisions. Is that what you want in a doctor??? A cult member worshipping a criminal? Thanks, but no thanks.
My eye doctor does not do that, but he does have a gigantic pedestal-type stand in his waiting area with an equally gigantic bible open on it. I have opted to find that essentially harmless. Plus, much of the rest of the office is dog-oriented, he loves dogs, so he kinda has to be my guy, Goddy or not.

Despite the waiting room entertainment, Ive been going to these dentists for over 20 years and theyve never tried to (directly) sell me any of that stuff.
