Why aren't Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs facing prosecution with other January 6th conspirators and criminals?

https://www.politico.com/news/2024/04/04/biggs-gosar-arizona-subpoenas-00150416

The little guys are getting sent to prison. Why isn't our Justice Department going after perps like these two Arizona Congressmen, and the other Republicans involved in fake elector schemes and the insurrection?

Do they think it will look to political?

Congressional Magats have immunity. As a matter of fact Gosar and Biggs can ignore the subpoena I believe.

When Scott Perry is indicted then I will change my mind.

They investigated what was Russian propaganda. After 6 years they did indict Hunter for not paying his taxes, which he later paid, and it is a crime that is rarely prosecuted but Garland must show Magats he is not partisan.

Lots of folks have gotten away with ignoring congressional subpoenas, but, AFAIK, none of Trump’s co-conspirators have ignored subpeonas issued by a court/grand jury.

They may have attempted to quash the subpoenas or claim executive privilege or Speech and Debate exception, but nobody ignores a subpoena issued by a judge.

"There is no indication that Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, who is leading the probe, is considering bringing criminal charges against either lawmaker. And it’s unclear whether Mayes has insisted on enforcing the subpoenas against the lawmakers, who may have legal bases to resist testifying."

Big fat nothingburger.

She has been able to charge several county supervisors who illegally tried to hand-count ballots and obstruct the 2022 election because of the conspiracy theories they pushed from 2020. Two in Cochise County are particularly deserving of jail time.

Smith, not Garland, chose to focus his initial indictments solely on Trump, for strategic reasons not disclosed to us.

Perhaps he wants to avoid the 20 defendant circus that Willis is facing in GA, or even the challenges that prosecuting 4 defendants in Cannon’s court has presented?

We know Meadows has a cooperation agreement with DOJ; once the co-conspirators know what he has shared (which will happen once discovery occurs in the J6 trial), we may see them clamouring for their own deals, which will never be as sweet as Meadows’.

We don’t know what we don’t know, and to make purely speculative assumptions based on the absence of public information is to risk the public embarrassment of the speculator.

...Arizona AG has subpoenaed both of them to testify to a Grand Jury investigating the fake electors. I documents could come there.

But go ahead, blame Garland for no good reason.

The fake elector scheme was across many states. The Michigan AG Dana Nessel sent a criminal referral to DOJ to prosecute her fake electors, waited 1 year and got no response, so she is prosecuting her fake electors herself.

to let rioters in, gave them tours so they knew how to effectively get to the people they wanted to murder and stop the proceedings, and those who engaged in all of this exhibited a clear disdain for the constitution.

It's been way over three years and none of those in congress who supported this and helped carry it out have been prosecuted. I don't care if it looks political, there's no other choice. Either we enforce the law equally, or it's worthless.

We have no will to enforce the rule of law. Might as well open the jails and prisons, dismiss all charges and let them all go.
