(29,732 posts)I was just curious about how you found this person (assuming it isnt a bot or something else just as nefarious). Its gotten to the point that its sometimes hard for me to tell the difference. Wouldnt surprise me to find Russian troll farms pumping out similar codswollop right about now. Cheap opportunity to blind foolish westerners who would become burdensome to their society.

(54,410 posts)People are out here dying from fentanyl, heroin and meth, but law enforcement wants to focus on the legal grow and sell of hemp?
https://www.fitsnews.com/2021/04/26/tax-dollars-hard-at-work-sled-arrests-2-sc-hemp-farmers-on-felony-marijuana-charges/

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is getting blasted on social media after its agents arrested two Pickens County hemp farmers on felony marijuana charges following an undercover operation.
On Wednesday, Killer Watts Farm volunteers Neysa Stathakis and Shawn Crawford were served with a total of five felony warrants for the distribution of marijuana, Stathakis said on a Facebook post.
On three separate occasions, an undercover SLED agent contacted us to purchase hemp, which Shawn and I delivered hemp to him, Stathakis said in the Facebook post.
The post has been shared more than 100 times mostly by people questioning why SLED is spending its time investigating volunteer hemp farmers. Stathakis, a former law enforcement officer in narcotics, said she shared the news of her arrest on Facebook for the sake of transparency and doing the right thing. In the post, she said they were both innocent.

I trust SCIENCE, hun, and SCIENCE says we need those eclipse glasses. That's why my husband and I will be wearing ours on Monday!
Have fun burning out your retinas, dear. We will not be joining you.

One does have to be careful near the end when the Sun is emerging.

between totally and the before/after partial eclipse that they want to shorten their advice to the simplest thing possible, and dont care if they err on the side of people missing the best part of the eclipse.
Then others, having heard only the simplified version, perhaps even from an apparent expert, will then think anyone saying you can look directly at the total eclipse is a dangerous nut who is going to get people blinded.
SergeStorms
(20,591 posts)it's time for the glasses again.
My suggestion would be to find out exactly how much time of totality is in your area and to err on the side of caution before and after totality.
For those outside of the path of totality, your glasses should be on the full time.
We're extremely fortunate because the exact center of the path of totality passes directly over my oldest daughter's house. We're having an all day party so as to avoid the traffic and expected idiocy.

(179 posts)The totality ( full occlusion) is safe to view without protection. Until total eclipse there's really nothing interesting to see anyway. There's nothing about a rock floating in front of the sun that magically amplifies the radiation. Just before and after total eclipse it's no different than accidentally glancing at the sun while driving or hanging out at the beach. Please don't miss one of the most mind-blowing things a human can witness because of overcautious misinformation.
