For some stupid reason, right after the President won reelection

I really thought that all of this nonsense was behind us and we could start moving forward. Silly me. But it's like the republicans are going to have to be dragged fighting tooth and toe nail into the 21 century when it comes to...well practically everything. It's not so much that they are stubborn, it is more that they know that they have to change and not just with words by by actions and they are still going to try and work a deal were they can still be pig-head assholes. Holding on to old dead ideas. I'm really sick of them.

I don't get it, but I have people like this in my family and they have been this way for 20+ years, treating me differently than my brothers because I am a liberal. They have been proven wrong and they still stay stuck on stupid. And I will not compromise, because they more you do, the more they want. It is never enough. They are not happy people and no amount of doing what they want will make them happy.

Look at the GOP getting their way for so long. They enabled the looting of the country by corporations, and yet they still want more. They expect everyone to do what they want because Congress always has. Dems are now to the right of Reagan, following their lead has been a national nightmare, yet they still think they are in charge.

They need to be told to sit in the corner on a time out. They took all the cookies now they need to put them back for everyone to share. And they can sit there until they figure out what they did and apologize.

I used to not care if friends or acquaintances were repubs, but I'm starting to question how anyone could support this party! How can decent people support a party that tries to disenfranchise others from voting? How can decent people support a party who's main agenda for the past four years was to make sure the President was a one term president?

Last summer, when repub men were sticking their foots in their mouths with comments like "legitimate rape" a repub friend of mine railed on about how they better not take her birth control away, or her daughters! Eight weeks later she 'liked' Mitt Romney on Facebook. What the fuck?

I'm seriously reconsidering the character of people who support the repub party.

I keep thinking it is some sort of brain malfunction, chemical issue...were all these people just constantly appeased when they were whiny greedy toddlers? I don't get it.

No matter how wrong they are, no matter how greedy and selfish they look, they have no shame!

Why don't they have shame? Why don't they feel bad about looking like assholes?

We need a public shaming akin to the McCarthy hearings "have you no sense of decency?"

They will probably still feel no shame or apologize, but knowing everyone knows how awful they are, they will slink away into the corner where they belong.(and where they will probably regroup for another attack)

some of these Teapublican traits in other aspects of repub supporters actions.

Car making a funny noise? Not if they don't think it does.
Something in need of minor repair? Not if they don't think it does.
One friend appears to be making personal and business decisions based in that alternate reality where Romney won by a landslide.

I'm seriously reconsidering the character / sanity of these Teapublicans.

It seems some should be committed but I'm not sure we have enough space in our mental institutions.

It is quite bizarre we allow so many mentally ill to write our laws.

They could not get over Obama winning in 2008 and then for it to happen a second time, they are fighting, trying to hold on to 1950's mentality that has served them so well.

is to replace them, one by one until there are members in the House and Senate that really do believe in the idea of progress.

They begin in the house. Any prez can scream about what he wants...but he does not have the power of our budgets. So much focus on the prez has just pissed me off! These congresscritter races are ON EVERY YEAR! So focus clearly on the power behind the bills. We all only have one elected to watch over, speak to, get rid of. Mine's in for 44 yrs! The districts are gerrymandered. The repubs in districts like Ryan's, Cantors's, etc, have to come out and vote dem. They keep running and you cannot unelect them by party in the districts all across the US. We need candidates too.

They began dictating their terms the next day and a lot of weak ass Dems seem to be getting dragged right into their plan. Why does it seem like when they win they win and when we win they win..

I hear all of this big talk from the Dems while they let them began controlling the agenda and the media/talking heads try to put the Dems on the defensive. Dick Durbin among others has no business setting any terms he is one of those weak go along to get along Dems. Someone like Grayson or Bernie Sanders should be at the table.

exactly, we have to stop letting them lead the discussion and start calling the shots.

Everyone is still waiting on the corporate media, the idiots that presented Romney as a winning candidate, actually said he won debates based on style not facts....I mean this is the most pathetic media ever, and it is the Republican 1%ers media, it is time to stop allowing them to lead the discussion.

We won this election on the net, WE should be leading the discussion, not the corporate media.

Really?

Hundreds of years of political fighting was going to stop because Obama won 51% of the vote? That was going to end the debate?

And replacing the GOP didnt work either. The Democrats held the Presidency, the House and a 60-vote majority in the Senate from 2008 to 2010. Yet many moderate Democrats gummed up the works and we barely got anything done.

I thought with the drumming they received and how bad their ideas was met with the American public, that yes, they would realize that they have really really bad ideas. So, yes that's what I thought. It's is still early and maybe the change will have to be done over time, but if they really want to stay in the game and do good work, they will have to change.

but they make their decisions based on emotions. Why they would be emotionally attached and willing to emulate sociopathic assholes is anyone's guess.

When did everyone here realize that we must rise above our initial emotional reactions and become rational?

That is the developmental stage they missed for some reason....

You could see it in the campaign tactics. People who campaign on lies and rely on race-baiting, fear and ignorance - and the people who vote for them for those reasons - are not going to just say "Hey, you guys got us and ran a good campaign! Let's get to work!"

It's naive to think that that level of race-driven fear and resentment is simply put aside. Some of these people were programmed to believe that the scary black Muslim is conspiring to give free money to (black) welfare recipients and take away their guns. The petitioners for secession should be an indication of how fearful, angry and ignorant some of these people are.
