It's the weirdest thing.
Trump does this all of the time, pulling someone's arm towards him, but this is one of the most obvious clips of it.

(131,233 posts)He does it all the time. I recall an incident where Justin Trudeau beat him at that trick. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video/2017/feb/14/donald-trumps-strange-handshake-style-and-how-justin-trudeau-beat-it-video-explainer
Where was Malaria? Hard to say, since this event took place at Mierda-Loco, where she actually lives, allegedly. Maybe she was cavorting with the pool boy.

(19,416 posts)It is a power thing and show of force to over power them during a standard hand shake. trDUMP pulls and yanks their arm and often won't let go until he is good and ready.
He thinks this shows how much of an alpha macho male he is upon greeting someone.
Most people just chock it up to the fact that he is just being a flaming asshole as usual.

(53,550 posts)He is totally lacking in any social graces or manners. It is like he was raised by wolves (sorry, no offense to wolves who are social animals).
That yanking someone to him and often not letting go of their hand is just so weird. In his mind, I suppose it is a power thing, but it looks awkward and uncivilized. Then there's pushing leaders out of his way and walking ahead of the Queen of England. If anyone ever taught him any manners, it didn't take.

(49,683 posts)and came up with his own version of it. Sometimes I feel like we are seeing an 8 year old in an adult body behaving in ways he's observed adults behaving without truly comprehending the reasons for those behaviors.

(53,550 posts)Much like he might have heard that a longer tie would make him look slimmer, but when he does it, he looks like a clown.
Yes, someone told him, or he heard somewhere that aggressively pulling someone toward him would be a show of power, which if done right, might be effective. You're right, he behaves like an 8 year old and is oblivious to the fact that he looks like a fool, even though he see himself on television and can see the facial expressions of those around him. He lives in his own fantasy world where apparently he is strong and god-like.

(3,782 posts)Remember he seems to idolize mobsters, some of whom he knew personally when he was young. He would have seen this little dominance schtick being played out and maybe even had it explained to him by one of the wiser guyz. Then, like the nicknames and A/B testing, it becomes a habit he's barely aware he's even doing over and over.
