I'm disgusted by the amount of money it takes to run for office.

I know we're all excited by the billions our Dems will raise. But at the same time I think what a waste. I am having a tough time getting excited about how much elections are costing us. We get all excited about how much is donated to big candidates, yet folks can't pay their monthly bills. I'm not sure what to do. I give a lot, but not to politicians. I see immediate relief buying tampons, wipes, food, etc... I haven't donated to a political campaign, ever. I vote, I canvass, but my money goes to immediate need.

Just same way with our animal shelters. No one given big money to candidates swarm in and saves the babies. It's us locals with a little money, and big hearts. Jackson county Oregon just saved about 70 shelter dogs because of overflow. It wasn't big Dem money come in and saved these dogs. Just good folks. Rural folks. Red and blue folks!

Trump didn't raise 50 million. If he had, he'd be stealing it to pay judgements and strip mall attorneys. onecaliberal Apr 2024 #1
I don't care what he raised. Maybe he did. Point is, too much money in politics! MerryBlooms Apr 2024 #5

A giant blue wave might make it a reality.

As you say, the money involved is insane.

We know why and we must change the corrupt situation.

Issues become visible, and become laws when we fight for them.

downticket races dont cost that kind of money. my sister’s campaign for co board only cost a little over a grand. if i’d wanted to get paid, ida taken a cut of that, which i think is pretty typical.
state house races take 5 figures. and these days, that’s the battle ground.

we rly need to repeal citizens united, tho. hopefully we have another real wave, and that might b able to happen. lotta good ppl w their eyes on that prize.

I consider donating to Democrats just as good as donating to charity because it’s essential to have the right politicians in office in order to affect true change.
