1. Republicans don't want to go anywhere with immigration because eventually they would have to agree on a number of

immigrants we need and will allow. That has to be a big number too. If they played ball, we would have to have a reasonable process of handling all legal immigrants which would include a fair share of asylum seekers. Why wouldn't we let a good number of our immigrants be those people? Immigrants starting out with a clear picture of who gets in, how and why can't hurt. It may prevent some from starting out.

If everything smooths out on the legal immigration side, we then get a clearer picture of what's going on illegally. They really don't want that because it's nowhere near as bad as they make it out to be. All of their shit keeps us from fixing what problems there really are.

I'm not saying the cult is persuadable. But I suggest a little dignity for the MAGAs, because telling them they are unemployed beer drinking losers isn't helping.

How about:
A woman with three kids who walked all the way from Guatemala doesn't want your job, she'll take a job you don't want. She isn't here to commit crimes, she is fleeing crime. You might hate her (until you meet her) but she doesn't hate you. She doesn't want to deal drugs she wants the American dream, and that includes looking up to you employed and protected by a social safety net that you have earned.

You can see the series on Hulu and it's absolutely some of the best investigative journalism out there. It's pretty incredible how Mariana Van Zeller infiltrates these underground networks and makes contact with, interviews and follows some of the most dangerous people in the world..

Anyway....

This episode talks about how young immigrant men coming into the US have little to no social support and they end up finding support in street gangs...and street gangs know this and specifically seek them out. The added benefit to the gangs is these young men are used to being around violence and easily socialized into it.

Then these young men may get deported and they bring back what the learned from American Gangs back to their home towns/cities.
