I just watched on YouTube as NBC followed the eclipse from Texas through Maine and I saw thousands and thousands of people brought together, in harmony and joy, observing science and getting educated. I was moved to tears several times. It actually made me feel optimistic for the future of this country, something I haven't felt for quite some time. Truly amazing.

(5,691 posts)3. I am watching their excellent coverage as well
Watching it in my area (96.55% max) and sharing the experience with
my family and friends around the country through texts and photos. And amazing
communal event that brings me to tears.
An event that in the past brought a sense of terror to many. It is a time
to be grateful for nature, science, and our shared experience.
