My sincere thanks to the AZ SupremeCourt!

With your ruling today, you have ensured the following:

Joe Biden will win AZ in November
Rueben Gallego will be the next senator from AZ
Voters will enshrine reproductive rights in the AZ constitution in November, rendering today’s ruling both obsolete and unconstitutional.

In addition, the odds of Dems winning local, state and federal offices in AZ just increased dramatically.

So, thanks a bunch AZ Supreme Court!

Child rape victims' lives will be forever changed.

Families will be burdened.

Hearts will be broken.

I came across this today when looking for a quote to add to the daily Stock Market Watch thread:

The prediction that in the wake of the Hill-Thomas hearings, the Kennedy Smith trial, and other insults to women in the U.S., “visible, articulate fury” from those women would constitute “the warning of a revolution yet to come” came dramatically true. The year 1992 saw the highest number of women in U.S. history run for public office at every level—local, state, and federal. Furthermore, the elections saw a record number of women win. We doubled our numbers in the Senate and in the House of Representatives (although six out of one hundred in the former and approximately one-quarter of the latter is hardly cause for relaxation). We are now one-fifth of all state legislatures—yet we are still 51 percent of the population. Since a democracy half governed is not a democracy, this simply means more revolution still to come.

My emphasis added, because this was published 30 years ago. Thirty fucking years.

from Margaret Atwood: Men are afraid women will laugh at them; women are afraid men will kill them.

Because they STILL DO.

The 6 week abortion ban goes into effect May 1st.

But on the ballot in November is an amendment to protect abortion until viability (24 weeks).

For a kicker recreational marijuana is also on the ballot. And while that is likely to draw out more liberals than conservatives, Republicans politicians have huge personal investments in it, so they are pushing hard for it to pass - which means they are appealing to liberal voters for it.

And the AG has said she will not prosecute any cases under the law.

So, hopefully, women in Arizona will be both protected and pissed off from now until November.

He was pretty much against it early on. But when the GOP proposed a constitutional amendment banning it at the national level, he started to waiver.

Not only did he say being anti-abortion would be a loser for the GOP nationally, but he also became in favor of gays serving openly in the military. Later in his life, he made some public statements that could be interpreted as being almost pro-choice. He moderated as he aged.

We're seeing no such moderation among aging Trumpers.
