I read Unbelievable: My Front Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History (2017) by Katy Tur

Her parents were freelance reporters and used a helicopter

They also got the footage of the attack on Reginald Denny during the riots in the aftermath of the Rodney King verdict. They were flying low in hopes that Denny's attackers would stop. They found a bullet hole in their helicopter later

During one of those, either the Simpson chase or the riots, Katy Tur looked up from her school playground, saw the helicopter and thought her parents were spying on her

It's been a few years since I read the book, in case any of these recollections are inaccurate
