Most Innocent People Try to Delay Trials, Experts Say

Prominent legal experts believe that defendants who are innocent of a crime will usually do everything humanly possible to delay their trials. Professor Davis Logsdon, who teaches a course about the behavior of innocent defendants at the University of Minnesota Law School, said that “if a defendant is strenuously trying to have his trial delayed, there is no clearer evidence that he is innocent of all charges against him.”

“Generally speaking, people who have done nothing wrong want to push the day when their name is cleared as far into the future as they can,” he said. “They will spend a massive amount on legal fees to have a cloud of suspicion hover over them for as long as possible.”

He said that there are “other signs” that a person is “completely innocent,” including “claiming immunity from all charges, defaming the judge and his or her children, and calling the trial a ‘disgrace’ or a ‘witch-hunt.’”

“If someone does all of those things, it’s so obvious he’s innocent that the case should be dismissed immediately,” he said. “The fact that such a trial is allowed to proceed is worrisome proof that our legal system is broken.”

was either the Onion or Borowitz.

Innocent people do just the opposite. This is what I've been saying all along. If Donald is so innocent, as he always cries to his cult, get all of your exculpatory evidence together and get to trial.

Clearing your "good name" of false accusations is paramount. Why waste so much time and money appealing this and that, using every delaying tactic along the way.

Clear your "good name," Donald.

depressing that so many people fall for it. Reminds me of Landover Baptist, where I first encountered Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian.

"We are proud of Dr. Logsdon's work and the visibility it brings to the University of Minnesota, which we would like to stress to Mr. Borowitz's readers is in fact a very real place, with faculty, students and staff working hard to tackle very real and important issues impacting Minnesota and beyond," said spokesman Evan Lapiska, adding that the university has known of Borowitz for years.

one of my favorite poems. I gotta look it up, haven't read it in a minute.

on Wednesday I had to look up Robert Lowell's Eye and Tooth. "I am tired./ Everyone's tired of my turmoil."

if he was innocent in reality these trials would already be over. he's guilty as hell and he knows it

it took me to the 2nd or 3rd paragraph before i realized it was satire

Satire is so challenging in the age of Trump who continues to walk unencumbered on the street.

This guy we all know too well, brags up he is the greatest, healthiest, smartest man in the World, but he sidesteps that he is actually third to Putin and Kim Jong. Remember this man once said he does not have to have donations to fund his campaign? Of course Hook was set and the flock were reeled in with their hard earn money. Sickening this man is still free to do as he pleases.
