There is little doubt that elections in the UK

can be "different" to say the least. The Reform Party is that awful mess created by Nigel Farage and the Brexit crowd. The upcoming elections in the UK are seeming to spell big losses for the Tories but much of that former support might be going to the Reform Party. So a glance at the latest doings of the Reform Party are in order. Most of humanity long ago seems to have concluded that Farage himself was slightly less fit than what floats on the top of a stagnant English pond. But let's have a look at how the party is faring with other candidates.

They recently purged 50+ candidates for "inactivity". Apparently some were claiming to run or being drafted to run but not actually appearing for the party in public. One such man not showing up was Tommy Cawkwell who they had tried to phone call and e-mail but when they got no response they publicly denounced him and said: “We need candidates who are active to give people the candidates they deserve”, adding: “We can’t afford to have people doing nothing in an election year.”

But poor Tommy had a perfectly good reason for not campaigning. It turns out that according to reports "In fact, Mr Cawkwell, who was a former RNLI volunteer, had died after being selected." Apparently the Reform Party never thought to actually send someone around to knock on the door or ask others. Tough bunch those Reformers. Once you're not at the next meeting it's tough love all the way.

But what of the other candidates of the Reform Party? What "champions" for the cause have they selected to carry forth the hopes of the party into the fray of the next election? Well according to the roster cited in this linked article their selected "salt of the earth" includes two candidates described as "a convicted animal abuser and a fortune-teller who sold spells for £200 online." It should also be noted that candidates have been warned not to go on social media after drinking. Somehow I think a tipsy post on Facebook is misplaced concern at this point.
