If Trump's trial starts on Monday....

Expect that Trump's lawyers will endeavor to create a mistrial, thereby delaying the trial, which is what Trump primarily wants.

According to Copilot, here are a couple of strategies they might use:

If an unexpected incident occurs during the trial—such as an emotional outburst, a disruptive event, or a significant distraction—it could bias the jury or disrupt the proceedings. Defense attorneys might use such incidents as grounds for a mistrial.

If either the prosecution or defense engages in significant errors or misconduct that cannot be adequately corrected with jury instructions, a mistrial may be sought. For instance, if an attorney makes prejudicial statements or introduces inadmissible evidence, it could warrant a mistrial.

You've recited some textbook examples of grounds for mistrial.

Do you have any reason to believe that the seasoned professionals on this case are likely to make prejudicial statements or introduce inadmissible evidence?

There might be better sources for legal analysis than a Microsoft quasi-AI program.

Since they've been throwing out ridiculous reasons to delay the trial I would expect them to continue during the trial if they don't manage to get a committed MAGA goon on the jury.

They don't seem to be committed to win the trial so their only option is to obstruct and delay in every way they can.
I'm sure they won't find errors coming from the prosecution but they could deliberately instigate errors and misconduct themselves in order to cause a mistrial.

If it did, every defense attorney would be highly trained in causing a mistrial.

It's really pretty hard to get a mistrial based on your, or your counsels', misconduct.

They will resort to every possible trick to delay the trial.
Once it starts I don’t expect them to suddenly pivot to a serious defense.
I’m sure they will try to disrupt and confuse the trial every way they can.
I’ll bet in a few weeks the judge will be tearing his hair out.
It’s going to be a circus.

even to do that there must be good cause.

Monday is jury selection and that could take 3 weeks.

8. It starts with jury selection, correct? On Trump timeline, that alone could take most of the summer.

have said that he firmly controls his courtroom in order to protect the record. I don't think he will put up with crap from the "defense." It's all going to come out. Not good for tRump!

As far as the sentence goes, apparently Class E felonies in NY can either be no sentence at all up to 1.3 years to 4 years in prison. Could be anything. I don't know if tRump's fraud conviction will have any effect on what J. Merchan decides for punishment, but he should get something. Assuming, of course, that he gets convicted. We must pay lip service to the principle of "innocent until proven guilty."

Saturday, Sunday---MONDAY. Jeopardy attaches after they swear in the Jury. I think at that point tRump will try something.
