Former Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Catherine Christian said she will be closely monitoring former President Trumps behavior in his first criminal trial, scheduled for Monday.
Christian noted that unlike his previous civil trials, Trump will have to sit there and hear the things he may not want to.
I will be watching for Donald Trumps behavior, Christian said Saturday on NBC News NOW Unlike the civil case of E. Jean Carroll, where he got up and walked out the courtroom because he didnt like what he was hearing, he cant do that in a criminal trial. No one can do that.
None of the prosecutors, the defense attorneys or Donald Trump, she continued. Hes going to have to sit there. He will only be able to leave when theres a break.

(7,604 posts)Waddle,......I can, sadly, see that. But, Canter, sashay, leap, egress or even mosey are impossible, not happening for the way-too-obese, end-of-times wannabe villain exiting the court where we shall see if there is, at long last, equal justice under the law in America.
I'm still not certain if this isn't all a trick of my aged-alcoholic imagination or part of the script of a play by Henrik Ibsen or Neil Simon, maybe working together in the great playwrights great beyond or maybe Samuel Beckett. Yeah, Beckett sounds about right.

(24,019 posts)to enhance his victim image for his followers. "No other president has been so persecuted. I am being persecuted for your sake. It is a political witch hunt because I am representing you and your interests against the crooked socialist government."
There isn't anything that he won't spin to project a righteous image of himself.
But other people besides the jury will notice. Even without the trial being televised, the general public will get reports and descriptions of his courtroom behavior. It could weaken support for him among many people, even though the hardline MAGAs will double down on defending him.

(16,683 posts)I'm sure there will be tons of analyses, reports, medical journal entries, dissertations, tragi-comical cartoons, etc. detailing his facial expressions, his utterances (within and outside of the courtroom), his body language, and perhaps (ewww) his smells.
And Fux/Newsmax/Pravda will report on the glorious leader (putin) and his wonderful mutt (trump).

(37 posts)I was pretty riveted to our television on Insurrection Day (Jan 6).
It was astonishing.
That day had a huge impact on all of us, which is why tRump will forever be a loser.
While the trial won't be televised, tRump's daily bloviation after every court appearance will be.
For that reason alone this trial should be televised.
Having said that, the extensive reporting on this trial should be fun.

(24,019 posts)in the courtroom trying to force the judge to take disciplinary action that will build up the martyr image.
I don't know what the judge's disciplinary options are, but I think that he could remove Trump to a separate room where he could watch but not respond. He would need to have speaking access to his attorneys, but could be cut off from verbal disruptions of the trial. Also, no phone, tablet, or laptop access so that he can't try to film or stream parts of the trial, or post commentary on it while it is ongoing.
He will, of course, protest any and all restrictions on him, but some will be necessary.
I wonder if there will be room for spectators besides the press.

(24,019 posts)Some DU posters and media commentators have compared that to the J6 invitation tweet "Will be wild." They thought that Trump was trying to get another J6 type crowd to take action.
But I think he might mean that all hell will break loose in the courtroom. I suspect that he has something planned to carry out in court. Don't know what it would be since my mind (fortunately) does not work like his.
Or, there might be multiple disruptive protests planned for around the country rather than a single gathering like J6.
