Judge scolds defense team for returning late from break From pool reports Before jurors were brought back into the court

Before jurors were brought back into the courtroom following a short afternoon break, Judge Juan Merchan gently admonished the defense team for returning late, according to pool reports.

"Counsel, it's important that we keep the breaks to the allotted time, so we can keep moving," Merchan said.
Merchan said court will break for the day around 4:30 p.m. ET.

I think this Judge is done with the delay tactics.

Actually I think that's exactly what they're doing, at his behest. They will continue to do it despite fines PortTack Apr 2024 #12

If Trump is late, extend the trial day by that amount. That will piss off the jury to stay late because of Trump. TheBlackAdder Apr 2024 #19

Delay tactic. It might push the whole trial back by 2 hours if they continue to do this for another month or two. Sarcasm in case anyone wondered.

It doesn’t even result in delay. The judge can just add five minutes to the end of the trial day.

Something that is probably necessary when dealing with a defendant like Donald Trump. He's been pretty impressive.

Time for Donald to come down to earth and realize that in court, he is the defendant, not the former president.

Trump will have to sit still day after day after day, quietly no less, something he is not used to. It could be the ultimate torture for him.

It’s a stupid strategy. Won’t delay anything and just irritate the judge. If they showed up 10 minutes late every day for 2 months it adds 6 hours to the trial, pisses off the judge, and pisses off the jury.

to make sure the judge knows that the Trump team will be controlling the clock.

So far it's backfiring.
