WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake, an ardent supporter of former president Donald Trump, urged supporters in Arizona to "strap on a Glock" pistol as they prepare for what she called an intense six months leading up to the Nov. 5 elections.
"We are going to put on the armor of God. Then maybe strap on a Glock," Lake told a cheering audience at an Arizona rally on Sunday.
"You can put one (Glock) here," she said, touching her right hip. "And one in the back, or one in the front, whatever you guys decide."
Her campaign did not respond to queries seeking comment.

(31,149 posts)Ranchers, isolated homes, etc., owning a firearm is a necessity.
They are tools, to protect against dangerous animals, and in areas where a police response may take a very long time.
They aren't used as low self esteem compensation, and legitimate owners don't stockpile body armour or other stuff used to go on an insane rampage.

(2,799 posts)and the rhetoric and threat of violence increasing month after month and seeing these idiots are not budging.... and reading all the shit here on DU regularly doesn't put me at any greater east.
As I get older, I realize what is happening might not be as fleeting as I would have thought when I was younger. I have more to lose now and my love for and concern for the protection of my family has grown ever more.
FFS, I've contemplated getting an AR.. Never would have thought that 8-10 years ago.. but I'm headed that direction. WTF?

I keep hearing that there are functional psychopaths in society....I suspect that the Republican party boasts a far larger percentage of them than society at large.

(16,385 posts)Thats actually a frightening amount when you think about it. Thats like 3-12 million in our country alone. And yeah, I bet the Republican Party has a large percentage of them, especially their leadership.

And I can't think of a single Republican who seems to want to serve the people they represent more than they want to accumulate money and personal power.
