My trip to The Villages on Sunday. Went to

see husband’s cousin in the midst of divorce and weight loss. Long story. BUT the great news is I didn’t see one clown flag or lawn sign. Was there prior to 2020 election and the joint was crawling with MAGA crap. Hmmmm

The MAGA crap isn’t as visible as it was in the past. It might be that TSF’s base has been dying off in the last few years. It’s hard to say but there definitely isn’t the MAGA presence as there was in the past. Heck, a Trump store in the area recently closed and has yet to re-open. A new owner bought the building where they had the store. Not sure why the Trump store left, maybe they got kicked out, but they are no longer around.

And then also likely many got turned off by Jan 6 and or abortion. The trial is likely not going to help.

January 6 took a small, but still significant, number of the most hard-core supporters of TSF off the streets or they turned against Trump. You don’t have the most devoted zealots whipping people up to support TSF as you did before 2021. I agree about the trial. Once TSF is convicted of most or all the charges in the NY case, his support is going to evaporate. It’s going to be hard to support a convicted criminal knowing he still has three more trials to go.

And the signs were up then. Why would the rules prohibit political signage now, pray tell?

In fact, most HOAs do not--repeat, do not--forbid reasonable displays of political affiliation.

But of course we mere peons are too stupid about politics to know something so basic compared to those who can call Democratic insiders whenever they want.

For what it's worth, I usually agree with you; occasionally, I don't, but I always value your voice here.
You share information, you counter misinformation, and in real life you do a lot to advance Democrats' cause.

I'm just chiming in because I hope you won't let this spate of nastiness discourage you from posting.

Also, far fewer Trump flags this time around. I think they are embarrassed by his behavior and the behavior of his most flamboyant supporters. Sadly, they continue to support him even if they are feeling sheepish about it now.

I've noticed for a while, no signs, one Trump flag, south of me. That's all.

A local bar owner hosted the Trump campaign headquarters in our area. She put up a huge sign announcing that fact on her bar. Repug town council okayed it, of course. Every time I went downtown, I had to see that thing.

At one point she took a black baby doll and put it in a cage. It was supposed to be Obama. She sold the place, and there's a big sign outside: New owner, new ambience. I think everyone knows what that means. I do.

you have to be in the country, rural areas, to see MAGA stuff. It's early though - only April. In another 6 months that could be different.

Same with businesses that I'll die before I patronize. And, mind you, this was before this Lord ShartSnore of the Court period began.

Some flags are down but one block that still has flag up neighbor across the street has flag that says "send Trump to prison" that must be interesting as they see each other outside.

to slightly left Democratic and very racially mixed neighbourhood, but not lately. Then the other day I saw a classic in the parking lot of the gym where I go. Huge black Escalade parked off center so it took up a whole parking space and part of another, with a Trump worship bumper sticker with some more Trump/gopper decal rubbish stuck onto the windows, and who did I see approaching it, a very young woman wearing a MAGA hat with gold bling and a Trump worship shirt. She was so tiny she would have needed a stepladder to get into that big slogwagon, which may have explained the crap parking job.

Usually I just see old white guys wearing cranky T-shirts with whiny logos and driving TDS trucks with compensatory gun propaganda all over them. I NEVER see tool boxes, tackle or any kind of work gear or haulage in the back of these trucks, as would someone who actually, you know, uses them for other than driving five blocks to the store.

I'd say here the level hasn't really changed much, but it was never very high.

Ostracized the idiots who demonstrated over-the top-TSF displays, after a house on the market lost out with a buyer willing to pay over the list price (we live in a super-desirable neighbourhood). The elderly couple were selling because they needed to downsize for financial reasons, and losing out on that extra $$$ was the proverbial bridge too far for a predominantly empty-nest neighbourhood. Even though it's not designated as such, this is very much a AARP-aged housing division, with our homes as nest eggs for our golden years. You don't cut into home values here. Simply isn't done.

And so the neighbourhood turned on the traitors, and even those morons soon got the message: Stop being scumbags...or else.

Haven't had a stupid display since.

We live in a one-stoplight town bordering Dallas co. in TX. Town's about as redneck and country-fried as I've ever seen.

In 2016, the trump signs were all over the damn place. The only ones I can see still up are above a derelict vape store and another that''s been hanging faded and cattywampus from a railway trestle for the past three years or so (I keep forgetting to take a few snaps of it-- it encapsulates his existence so well).

This year's cycle has been really quiet around here. No self-righteous fist-pumps to the face or sanctimonious lawn signs proclaiming trump as lord and savior, no in-your-face t-shirts taking pride in ignorance.

Dunno if they've simply quieted down, or gone underground for the season.
