You file your Motion to Convey and the prison will transport their prisoner to the Court, hold him there until it's time for him to testify, and then transport him back to prison. It happens all the time. It's included under your subpoena powers. A criminal defendant has the right to file a subpoena to compel the testimony of anyone who he/she believes will provide relevant testimony. And that's not just prisoners. That's anyone. You may not disobey a subpoena lest you risk being held in contempt. Unless you're a Republican member of Congress, that is.

Sure, they can be removed to testify at another's hearing or trial.

It is unsettling to see them in their orange jumpsuits and handcuffs and chains. Sometimes the courtroom is cleared before their entrance for security purposes.
