Sorry but I am all out of freebies from the Miami paper.
The owner now wants DeSantis's help from what I gather from these comments.
According to the owner these are long time employees --and are considered part of his family.
I doubt DeSantis will help him IMHO.

Hispanic restaurant owner Richard Gonzmart is a Republican who voted for DeSantis. Now hes panicking because DeSantis new immigration law forced him to fire 19 members of his staff and pay a $500k fine because they are undocumented.
Richard Gonzmart, owner of the iconic Columbia Restaurant chain based Tampa, said the family-owned company has treated employees as part of the restaurant family. He now wants protections for migrants who have been in this country for years.

(7,911 posts)Get those undocumented farm workers and restaurant workers out of the state!
Make room for real Americans who want those jobs!
Stand back folks, watch the real Americans come in and do a much better job!
Nex minit - crops go unpicked, restaurants close down because no kitchen staff, no waiters, no one working.
Something to do with pay and working conditions, perhaps?
BREXIT - get them non English speaking foreign workers out of the country!
(Same outcome.)

And once your vote gets a certain person in, but you then see you called it wrong, it's very tedious to undo your vote.

(11,232 posts)It was expensive, and it's popular with tourists and visitors. For half the price, you could eat at Latam's or La Terecita - and according to friends, the food was just as good or better. Latam's is closed now, but I ate at LA Terecita the last time I was home, which was before COVID.

(9,059 posts)It's going to cause a lot of small business to shut down, and will have a huge, negative impact on agriculture in this country.
But, the brain dead zombie Republican base isn't able to think things through and come to conclusions that the rest of us have no problem with.
We're already at full employment. Where are the workers that will be needed to replace those people being deported going to come from?
Oh wait! Many states are, or already have, lowered the age at which children can do jobs they previously weren't able to take. I guess those states don't think school is all that important if all you're needed for is to fill low-end, non-skilled positions in the workforce.
