Generally speaking, if a candidate for public office lies about receiving an endorsement *

* that they actually didn't receive... is there anything that can be done, legally? Does the person (or newspaper, or organization) that DID NOT actually give the falsely-claimed endorsement have any legal recourse? After all, it's THEIR reputation that's on the line as well — especially when the lie comes from a disreputable candidate, or one that they really have no love for.

That's amazing, isn't it? And when I say "amazing" what I really mean is "disgusting" and "dishonest" and "desperate" --- The Three-D's.
