...is that while Trump is in jail, and only while he's in jail, he can be directly prevented from committing further violations. He'd be stuck in a cell with no means to tweet.
If protecting jurors from intimidation from Trump is the most reason for the gag order, then jail time as punishment is merely a secondary reason to jail Trump.
If protecting jurors from intimidation from Trump is the most reason for the gag order, then whether or not Trump can make political hay out of playing the martyr is a trivial issue compared to the safety and integrity of the jury.
I say Trump should be jailed for at least a short time to show him what it's like, and if he still keeps violating the gag order after that, revoke his bail and leave him locked up until the trial is over.

(5,068 posts)...I think Donnie having to sit and take it all in court with no outlet to scream back in court must be killing him. I am good with slowing this down and keeping Donnie in that uncomfortable position (and not napping) as long as possible.

(15,909 posts)...to jail someone else for flagrantly violating a gag order the way Trump has, then it shouldn't be a big call to jail Trump.
As far as I'm concerned, it's a judge's job to treat everyone who comes before them equally, and cast aside any concerns like "Gosh! He's a former President!", or "But what if he wants to be jailed?".
