Ive been saying this since last week. Hes an unhealthy old man. And hes mentally unstable. Hes looking worse every day and its just started. He cancelled his NC rally this weekend to rest. Sitting there for hours a day not in control is killing him.
Hes either going to have a real health crisis that will suspend the trial or hes going to fake one. This is supposed to go on for 6 weeks, no way he makes it through a couple weeks of this. Its torture for him physically and psychologically. If hes soiling his diapers daily without changing hell get an infection.
The media is starting to pick up on this now too. He looked and moved like a broken man today.

(47,444 posts)He is not surrounded by his sycophants always building him up.
Bringing him constant snacks and Diet Cokes.
Doing exactly what he wants to do when he wants to do it.
Being in control, telling everyone else what to do every minute of the day.
Other people are in control now. Telling him what to do.
Even when to sit and stand.
He is bored, his usual outlets, TV, golf, rage tweeting, all curtailed.
Not able to do his usual drugs, chase after women.
Having to listen to people talk about him in negative ways.
Listening to people tell the truth about his many crimes.
Facing possible jail.
Embarrassment, humiliation.
This is not rest for someone like Trump.

(10,724 posts)He's never had to go to work and sit at a desk for 8 hours, with just one break. It can become second nature if you've gotten used to it, but I think most people under-estimate how hard it really is for someone who never had to do it, who never had to develop any kind of self-discipline or patience.
Irish_Dem
(47,444 posts)No patience or delayed gratification.
So the courtroom must feel like torture to him.

(19,118 posts)He has no self or any other kind of discipline. The last time he had an ounce of discippline wsa when he was a teenager and got sent away to military school.
As President, he didn't have the discipline to read national security reports, he made them make them 1 page with pictures and a few key words. This is a man who was born rich, never had to apply himself, had his daddy buy his way into college, and then inherited what would be $12 Billion in real estate from his father when he died. He doesn't read at all. And so his entire adult life has been spent partying and then surrounding hyimself with yes men to help him scam. About the only discipline he's shown as an adult is the discipline to become a master at cheating and stealing from his business partners.
And so he ran for office and became addicted to the adoring fans. He cheated his way into office aeven though he didn't really want the job. But once he was president, he was addicted to the power. Since then he's just crewated this coccoon around himself. All e hears all day long is how great he is. He made it a requirement for people to stand and applaud whenever he enters a room.
For him to be sitting there hearing the worst of his deeds and how most of the world views him is worse than water boarding him. For him to not have any authority in that room is killing him, every minute seems like an hour, every hour an eternity. Trying to fall asleep is an attempt to escape. Now I don't know if he will get convicted, but I do know that sitting in the court day after day for weeks is a little bit of justice for the country as I know he's suffering from it immensly.

(14,592 posts)father used to call, 'butt-itis.' Your butt just starts to ache and you long to stand and stretch, maybe walk a bit. To sit in a chair for hours at a time without the freedom to stand up and walk around can be real torture.
Now, I think Trump is completely odious and too dangerous to be walking around free, he really is, but I can definitely feel some compassion about the physical discomfort. He bears a huge karmic burden and the weight of it is clearly tearing him apart. It is painful to watch, and it would be a mercy if the trial went quickly so he can rest in a confined space, assuming there will be some incarceration.
But the OP is right. This whole thing is taking a horrible toll on him. Again, it is painful to watch. But karma is taking its terrible course. A lesson for all of us, I think, because we all have faults, and we must fight against becoming a cruel society. We already have become so, but we here at DU can offer hope to the country by not being that way.
I do not feel sorry for Trump because he must go through this. And he really should be locked up for the good of all of us, because I do not think restorative justice can work around his personality disorder.
The person behind all this is Putin. Russia interfered in our election, otherwise Hillary Clinton surely would have won. Trump hurt us badly because he is by nature a divider, and by dividing us, he figures deep down he can come out on top. It worked for too long and too many people died. He was a miserable president, hurt this republic deeply and cannot be allowed near the White House ever again. We must as a society learn this lesson.
We must.

Best case is he bing-bongs on through the 2024 election. Loses, again, by a lot. Then on to the real crimes against the US - stolen TS documents!

However he manages his bowel control or lack thereof during the day is eliminated for him. That could be YUGE! We know what a loaded diaper does to a toddler! LOL
Possible medications he might be on could be really screwing him. If he's on any of those drugs they give to dementia patients, the side effects are horrible.
He's a prime candidate for fatty liver disease with his diet. That fits some of what we see from him too.

That said, of course it needs to happen at an appropriate time to make the election completely unsalvageable for the GQP. Of course they are doing an excellent job handling that on other fronts anyway. (see: women having rights taken away; general stupidity.)

I think I prefer he not die because his base would make him a martyr. I'd love (as I'm sure we all would) for him to lose in a landslide and take many other Republicans with him. This is my greatest wish....

(4,408 posts)As for his diaper, he gets breaks. It doesn't take long to change a diaper. Granted, he has a giant ass that needs a lot of wiping, but he could hire a health aid if needed. The court would probably allow for extra time. All the lawyer has to do is ask. That I'd like to hear. LOL. He managed as president. I thought he might possibly have a drug related psychotic break. That would be entertaining.

(19,118 posts)One thing I can guarantee you is that Trump has never spent any time with his grandchildren. Probably doesn't even know their names and certainly has never once picked them up or hugged them.
His daughter was asked about a time when her dad was there for her, all she could come up with is that he called her on the phone when her college roommate committed suicide. That was her one caring moment he showed to his daughter. That's the Trumps for you, their entire lives are about themselves, not a moment of tenderness for anyone, inclkuding their own children.

Only a few have stood up to his crimes, and for justice.
Now, he has to sit still, STFU for long periods, and feel humiliated for the first time in a situation with real consequences, and vent his rage only in very limited moments, and in proscribed ways.
His Kristian Kamikaze KoolAid army is nowhere to be seen.
The rage must be building like a nuclear volcano.

(1,840 posts)he'll just shuffle into court every day, whine and rage tweet every night, sleep, snort and fart and rack up gag order violation fines.
Sitting in that chair is no hardship - everyone gets breaks and he lives a privileged life.
My prediction is people will get tired of this trial, his whining, go on to other things and the trial will drag on until it nears the end when people check in again.
