http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2012/11/27/mccain_rice_admitted_she_was_wrong_on_benghaziMcCain: Rice admitted she was wrong on Bengahzi
U.N. ambassador Susan Rice told senators she was wrong when she attributed the Benghazi attack to a spontaneous protest that was a reaction to an anti-Islam video on television on Sept. 16, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) told The Cable.
Rice, however, immediately contradicted McCain's readout of the meeting and said that the intelligence community was wrong on one detail of the day's events: the notion that there was a protest outside the U.S. mission in Benghazi.
.
Rice met with McCain, Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) in the Capitol this morning along with acting CIA Director Mike Morrell. McCain, in a short interview following the meeting, said that he was troubled by several of her answers. He also said that Rice clearly stated she was wrong when she made her original statements on the attack, and McCain called on Rice to repeat that admission publicly.

McCain said he was unhappy with several of Rice's answers on how the State Department handled the issue before, during, and after the attack.

Oh for the love of Dog John ...... Ms. Rice gave the exact same talking points that she was given by the CIA and
the CIA did not give all the information to her and congress because they had agents, assets, and programs they
did not want to expose and she was working at the UN at the time of the attack too. Ever since Rep. Issa blabbed
about our some of our SECRET ACTIONS in Libya the CIA has had damn good reason not to give out too much
information.
I am now convinced that the repugs want to try to impeach or hamstring Obama over Bengahzi.

(23,272 posts)This is so utterly irrational otherwise.
They know that impeachment won't be successful in the Senate but they also know that, like Clinton, they can utterly destroy Obama's second term agenda with impeachment proceedings. It would stop any forward momentum in Congress. It also tarnishes the Dem candidate in 2016 AND would take one of our most effective campaigners, Obama, off the campaign trail for the 2016 Dem candidate.

McConnell can go whine some more, but he's pretty much powerless after Jan 6th - filibuster reform will happen, and it won't be the way Turtle likes it.

(1,435 posts)was wrong. Is that all the old fool got out of their meeting today with ambassador Rice? Get over it McCain, you lost four years ago because you were a loser then and still hold that title. Your stupidity is showing.

(53,865 posts)McCain is at it again. Keeping his name in a few more news cycles, and thereby extending his self-perceived relevance, is all he's interested in. The, "she admitted that she was wrong" claim is just so much hogwash but it will get him some headlines. She was only "wrong" in that the report she was given was "wrong" in that it left out information for national security reasons. It also stated that there was a protest at the consulate on the day of the attack, not unlike all the dozens of other protests going on through out the region at the time, not such an outrageous conclusion to draw. I don't think we have to worry about this going on for too much longer because the CIA is responsible for the "wrong" info but McGrumpy is going to milk it for as long as he can.
