(320 posts)I think DeNiro pretty much sums it up as far as never letting Trump be president again. Well worth watching.
Maybe after seeing DeNiro allowing this interview, others at his level might also speak up. Now that would be something.

(1,707 posts)He covers it all. Hopefully people that hear that interview will pay attention and do the right thing and vote for Joe Biden. As Dinero says, its the only choice we have as a country unless you want to turn this country over to somebody who in my opinion is going to be much worse than Hitler, if thats even imaginable.

(15,739 posts)There is no question that autism frequency has significantly spiked in the past 40 or so years. Until science clearly determines the reason or reasons for that, people who are directly affected will continue to wonder .. and hedge their bets. I get it. .... I have a son who had GBS -- a syndrome not a disease -- when he was 10. He was paralyzed for several months and has some minor residual to this day -- more than 30 years later. There have been numerous cases of GBS presenting in individuals following Covid vaccines. (The same is true for flu shots and shingles vaccines by the way.) My son has foregone the Covid vaccines. I don't blame him. In fact my wife and I stopped getting them after the first booster after consulting with our physicians who affirmed that genetically, one or both of us may have higher risk of GBS as a "side-effect".
Both your post and the link are gross generalizations lacking full objectivity re: DeNiro in my view. To me. you are throwing out the baby with the bath water.

(46,448 posts)People bring up his past activism, mostly regarding the environment.
And that makes him a true hero to them.
Nowadays his anti-vax lunacy has gone off the rails.
Even faced with all the science that says he's dead wrong, RFK Jr still continues with his "vaccines cause autism" bullshit.
And it sure does look like DeNiro is the same way.
Here at DU, we like jumping on right-wingers who are corrupt or simply stupid, just because they are on the right.

(7,463 posts)Only severe cases earned a label of autism 50 years ago. Now it is viewed as a spectrum which includes far more cases that would have previously passed without count in that category.

(15,739 posts)to some trigger: flu and flu shots are notable triggers. The individuals own immune system attacks the myelin sheathing of nerves (think of it like insulation on electrical wiring) and short circuits the nerves essentially. Not sure of latest medical understanding of the why the immune system does this but at the time my son got it the thinking was the cellular makeup of the myelin is similar to that of the trigger (e.g., a flu virus) and immunobodies to mistake myelin for the virus and attack it. Results in paralysis beginning at extremities (fingers, toes) and moving toward core over time. Myelin and mobility can recover over a period of time if the process is reversed timely (massive doses of gammaglobulin were used in my sons case to do this). But GBS can also be fatal.

He seems genuinely scared, choosing his words carefully, trying to be clear as day.
And Italian Americans' ancestors, whether they immigrated in the 1890s wave or mid-20th century, have a particular history with dictators because Italy's city states were a weak central government. Garibaldi fought for nationhood.

(17,757 posts)makes you a expert on politics who's opinions deserve a national interview. I do, however, appreciate him, or anyone else, using their platforms to damn Trump.
I got a bad taste for actors when Ronald Ray Gun was in power.
