Team Trump believes Tim Scott might not be hostile enough toward democracy. The Republican senator settled on the worst possible solution to the "problem."

With this in mind, what, pray tell, is the South Carolinian prepared to do about his partisan problem? As NBC News noted, Scott appears to have settled on the most unfortunate fix possible.
Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina on Sunday did not directly answer multiple questions about whether hed accept the results of the 2024 presidential election, regardless of who wins. At the end of the day, the 47th president of the United States will be President Donald Trump, Scott, a Republican, said the first time he was directly asked whether he would commit to accepting the election results on NBC News Meet the Press.
Over and over again, host Kristen Welker pressed the Republican to simply say, yes or no, whether he was prepared to accept the results of the 2024 presidential election. He wouldnt say though Scott was willing to question the integrity of NBC News journalism for reasons unknown.

.....But in 2024, as the radicalization of Republican politics intensifies, Scott wasnt just asked, he also refused to answer no doubt because the senator knew that if he answered in such a way that expressed support for democracy, this wouldve caused fury at Mar-a-Lago.
In other words, Scott believes the key to addressing his Team Trump problem is to appear more openly hostile toward the American political system, which in turn might boost his national ambitions.
As the GOPs race to the bottom unfolds, I continue to believe that no one should want to be vice president this badly.

(71,926 posts)... and so we are over 90% white around here.
After Katrina a group of black storm refugees came here. They were all part of a church and and a community business, "Smokin' for Jesus!".
They used our church while they put a life together here. They opened several restaurants, and bought a local "boys ranch" for trouble young men and built homes and a church.
While they used our church, the way the "smokin'" acted compared to our white kids was striking. Respectful to everyone (not just to their own group), they've done well is school and have earned more than their share of scholarships. The restaurant workers they train are as competent if not more so than most fresh graduates of culinary schools. I've worked with them and without a doubt, as a group they are dependable, capable and most importantly of all, they give a shit about what they do and how they do it. They do not have anywhere the interaction with the local constabulary the white kids here do.
About three years ago, after years being here doing not a thing but thrive and contribute to our community, someone burnt a cross tied to the mailbox of the Smokin' community. Something I never, ever thought I would ever get to see with my own eyes.
My wife and I hate it here. But we have her 95yr old mother here. Now we are in our mid 70's and it's clear: we will not be moving out.
