Unfortunately that is not the only thing he and tsf had in common. I spent years trying to get his approval and making excuses for him to my siblings. He was a union dem until trump showed up. Never thought of him as a racist until 2015. There were signs of it earlier but I dismissed them. After he retired from working in bridge construction it got worse. He would go on rants about the border and how they were coming across to take union jobs. I would remind him they were no different than my great grandfather who came from Ireland. He should blame the emplorer not those seeking a better life for their family. It got so bad I cut contact with him after my mother's death in 2017. He had become a very vocal trump supporter. He passed in 2021.

Yes I lost him long before he passed. But in looking back on my childhood, I realized he was never who I thought he was. He spent a lot of extended periods absent while on different jobs. It was those times we were the happiest. When he was home he was very strict and demeaning to our mother.
It is my mom I really miss and the adventures we had when he was gone from home. Midnight Bowling was the best.
