Stormy: "Oh, I absolutely meant Mr. Trump."
Now they're going over her tweet which says something about 'flushing the Orange Turd."
Why, but why would the defense raise this over and over? Stormy Daniel's opinion of Donald Trump isn't going to change the facts about the payments or the false filings.
Anyway, it's hilarious to my juvenile mind that the defense is actually insulting Trump on Stormy's behalf in front of the jury, especially after they made such a fuss about salacious testimony from the same witness.
More of this, please.

(7,797 posts)Whatever concerns were had about her detailed testimony on direct, may well be mitigated by this line of questioning on cross.
bucolic_frolic
(55,143 posts)The defense read the transcript of a tape of Stormy's lawyer complaining to Cohen that if he didn't pay soon the value of her story would be zero because the election would be over.
Yeah, it indicates she wanted the money. But at the cost of reinforcing heavily how election dependent her story was. I'm not sure highlighting the election part in cross was a good idea.

(94,269 posts)...If I was a juror, I'd be asking why Trump even invited her over.
I also saw a friend of hers speak out yesterday confirming that she'd called her that day about the encounter and all.
I'd guess there's plenty of proof, and I wonder if the defense is going to slip up and open the door for even more embellishing of the sexual encounter.
Moreover, it doesn't need to be proven that there was an encounter. Just the fact of trying to bury her story by falsifying records is enough to convict.
This is Pillow Guy legal defense strategy, at best. It's likely aimed at election voters more than the court.

(53,214 posts)if she's biased or making it up. He is on trial for fraud, not for sex with an adult film star. This line of questioning is totally irrelevant.
As for being biased and hating Trump, Daniels probably didn't feel that way until after she was treated so poorly and even threatened by Trump and his henchmen. Anyone in their right mind would hate him.

The defense counsel isn't going to persuade with the idea that people will get to know someone and have bad experiences with him and somehow have no opinion at all about him.
We're not "biased" against Trump. We just know who and what he is and we despise that.

(24,210 posts)The laywers need to attack her credibility, sure. But this is Trump making them campaign for him, making them fight for his reputation rather than for victory in this case.
Her credibility is a small part of this case. But the lawyers are taking direction from Trump to go further and further on this to help his ego and his campaign. They're not trying to defend him from the charges so much as defend his reputation, it's a legal mistake IMO.

To sit here day after day hearing what the world really thinks of him is pure torture for him. And physically it's killing him too. He cannot sit still, he is not used to being in one spot for 9 hours at a time in an uncomfortbale chair in court. He needed a day of rest yesterday, this is really hurting him physically and it's going to go on for several more weeks.

(5,835 posts)the lawyers are probably decent people from good families who have bills to pay so they had to take this job or wait for another ambulance to chase. and
these lawyers by now know for sure that their client is an unmitigated asshole who does not have a defense, so
they are using stormy's testimony to insult their own client on their own behalf.

All he needs is one person on that jury to believe him (or to sympathize w/him).
Given how gross he is, and g-d knows how many women he's done this to, it's probably the best thing they could come up with.

(949 posts)It is not illegal to have sex with a porn star.
It is not illegal to pay her money not to talk about it.
Now paying her money to have sex is illegal, but the prosecution doesn't claim that.
The legal issue is how he manipulated business funds to make and hide the payment. Now that is illegal.
And that is what he is being prosecuted.
The defense here is to keep the prosecution and jury concentrating on paying hush money. Remember that the money was not paid to hide an illegal act. And that is what the defense wants the jury to think. That TFG is not on trial for trying to hide having sex with a porn star. Even paying her hush money for covering up a legal act is not illegal. He is being tried for the way he manipulated business records to hide the money used.
If found guilty, I don's see jail time. Just a big fat fine.

(1,358 posts)I was watching an episode of COPS, riding Miami PD, and one of their officers did one of those talk about me moments about the time he encountered a limousine parked on a street. He noticed some rocking activity and tapped on the back door window. The window rolled down and said it was Donald Trump with a woman.
When Trump announced he candidacy, i quickly remembered that episode and knew his moral character was at the level of a US President. My assumption was correct. So him doing this to Stormy, sounds like his MO.
