FIRST CLASS TRAIN Across Japan 🇯🇵 (Overnight on "SHIKI-SHIMA")

I wish we could have nice things like this in the US.

Welcome onboard one of the World’s Greatest Rail Journeys! This First Class Train across Japan has it all!

Watch this video to see what it’s like onboard the Train Suite Shiki-Shima across Japan! On our journey through massive urban centers, passed breathtaking mountains, and over peaceful rivers. We’ll cover nearly 550 miles over almost 31 hours!

The Shiki-Shima Train should be at the top of your travel bucket list. In this video, we’ll leave Tokyo at 9:15 and travel across Japan to return, the next evening, to our starting point: Ueno Station in Tokyo. Along the way, we’ll travel in a First Class train car with every amenity you can imagine (and some First Class Luxuries to surprise you!).

Onboard the Shiki-Shima First Class Train experience, we’ll have our own dedicated Team to take care of our every need, two INSANELY comfortable beds and Michelin Star Quality food.

Our room is in the “entry level” type, but you’d never know it! It’s got every amenity you can imagine!

The incredible Lounge includes a first class bar complete with snacks and other treats to enjoy along our journey.

We even had the opportunity to get out and explore Japanese culture twice during our journey. These explorations gave us a sense of just how special this magical country really is!!

You’ll see the sights, the food, and gain insight into what it’s like to travel on this incredible First Class Train: The Train Suite Shiki-Shima.

1. Over the top luxury

I don't yearn for over the top luxury travel here in the US, I just want comfortable travel. Travel that allows for the body to be in a restful position, adequate food and water, a clean bathroom, safety, and skillful personnel.

2. But then, that's part of the fun for elites

Not just that they live like gods among us ants - but that the rest of us not be entitled to even the most basic of rights or comforts.

With exceptions, they've grown bored of having a monopoly on wealth. They now want a monopoly on well-being, safety and happiness as well.

Again - not all of them by any means. But certainly most of the Republican ones.

I'm jealous. Was in en-suite? Did you have any off-train overnights along the way?

I've seen his videos on his Amtrak travels. He and his wife definitely make it clear that travelers should LOWER their expectations and expect an "adventure" (which I think is a euphemism for "disappointments&quot

Fast, clean, comfortable, and on time, and people queue up to board. Though I recommend avoiding Shinjuku and Tokyo stations at rush hour if possible.

Taken the run from Tokyo to Kobe (and back) several times.
Never anything but a satisfying situation.

7. Ouch! Lowest price equivalent in dollars $2,375, highest $9,628.

I'd prefer a more ordinary train! You can drink cans of beer and nibble snacks right there in your seat, and it's fun to try Ekiben, bento boxes you buy at train stations featuring specialities of the region you're traveling in.

10. That's pretty amazing. The cost was way lower than I thought it would be.

I thought, "Lifestyles of the richer and richest" but they said the price was $2500 each. Everything included. The price is somewhat comparable to a cruise ship and granted only 2 days, but not out of the range of many people. Also, the lottery thing probably evens out the price.

Without doing any research on it, the guy said it was very smooth, so I'll bet the Japanese have better rail beds than we do and no doubt the train cars have some amazing suspension design.

It was an interesting piece.

11. No, it's expensive and for rich people. Not one price for everybody. Why would the lottery thing even out the price?

12. I guess "rich people" is relative. A middle-class or upper middle-class couple could afford it if they were so inclined.

What I meant is that the tickets aren't going to the highest bidder, and I'm guessing that might keep the price down. But I'm no expert, it's just a guess.

This thing isn't transportation in the normal train sense. It's like a cruise ship. It makes stops for tours. The final destination isn't the goal as it returns the passengers to the starting point.

13. It's expensive. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Middle class people in Japan couldn't afford it. Foreign tourists and rich Japanese people can. All of a sudden elite rich people's things are normal in Japan but not in the U.S.? Working/middle class Japanese people would never spend that much money on a little train ride.
