(5,410 posts)It was an 'ok' likeness of him, but the background color ruins it entirely.
What kind of drugs is the artist using ???

(82,312 posts)A blood bath or in hell?
Especially in light of his cancer diagnosis, he looks like he has left his body.
Exactly what I was thinking. The blood red background is pretty insensitive for someone who has just received a serious cancer diagnosis and could be dying.
I think the artist could have gotten away with the abstract look if the background had been white/gray or some other soft color, conveying a sense of dignified emergence rather than hellish death.

(41,040 posts)Its better to go with a more traditional style. Artist was trying to be too out there. Im kind of puzzled, actually, as to what he or she was trying to convey.

I don't like the King Charles portrait- too red and too abstract for my tastes.

And, facially, it is a good likeness of him.

Maybe just too much red.
One would think that the first official portrait of a new King of England would be a more traditional portrait.

However, there is a small "ick" factor that comes up when I see it. He looks like he's drowning in blood, and it just reminds me of his infamous "I wish I was your tampon" dirty talk.
