Exactly what I was thinking. The blood red background is pretty insensitive for someone who has just received a serious cancer diagnosis and could be dying. I think the artist could have gotten away with the abstract look if the background had been white/gray or some other soft color, conveying a sense of dignified emergence rather than hellish death.

Tue May 14, 2024, 07:59 PM

Amongst the royalty who have been members of the company, four had not been expected to become a monarch at the time of their birth but were later crowned:

Prince William of Orange, later King William (III & II) of England, Scotland, France and Ireland
Prince Carl of Denmark, later King Haakon VII of Norway
Prince Albert, Duke of York, later George VI, King of Great Britain and Ireland, Emperor of India
Princess Elizabeth of York, later Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom

Etymology Monarch Butterfly. The name "monarch" is believed to have been given in honor of King William III of England, as the butterfly's main color is that of the king's secondary title, Prince of Orange.
