Unlike Smelvis the SF Slobfather aka Don Poorleone the Nodfather, you are loved and respected. Eff the oil barons, history will be kind to you.

Too bad Reagan won, our world would be so different if he had.

(6,670 posts)I think it's offensive to praise Jimmy Carter by comparing him to Trump, and vice-versa. The two names should never be in the same post, much less the same paragraph or sentence. Jimmy Carter deserves better than that. --- He deserves praise for who he IS and what he's ACCOMPLISHED (not for who he "isn't" and for what he "hasn't done".)

(15,757 posts)Even if he would not become Governor, President, and a renowned humanitarian he should be remembered for this act of courage. Carter absorbed 1000x times the radiation allowed today. A true American hero.

(6,514 posts)I was in 4th grade when he was elected, at that age when concepts like a President were beginning to dawn on me. So of course, given that and his life's achievements, he's become an inherent, fundamental standard of who I think has earned the office, and the direction their ethical compasses should point towards.
I'll never have reason to place Pres. Carter and that other guy in the same thought, let alone in a sentence, unless to draw what I think is the most greatest contrast between two modern presidents: a man of noble thought and deed, and a degenerate, willfully-flawed piece of filth.

(3,136 posts)very interesting story. For ex. ... how many people know he was a submariner assigned to Schenectady, N.Y., where he took graduate work at Union College in reactor technology and nuclear physics, and served as senior officer of the pre-commissioning crew of the Seawolf, the second nuclear submarine. ? Fascinating, the trajectories of lives

https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/09/politics/trump-nobel-prize/index.html
President Donald Trump told reporters Wednesday that while everyone thinks he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for his involvement in the warming of relations with North Korea, the only prize he wants is a victory for the world.
Of course he never got one
