Just got back from an errand. I debated whether to post this, but find I must.

It’s possible to make a Tesla truck uglier. I saw it both sides of my trip. Coming at me I realized some idiot had attached horns from a Texas long horn in front. That was weird enough. On the return trip the “truck” was parked so that I could see the right side. There were perhaps 50 bullet sized dents in the back left door. So cool. 😃🌞 must be to show how stupid er strong it was. Some place our gene pool went way too close to the noxious chemical pool. Good grief.

16. They Use 304 Stainless Steel

304 is very susceptible to chloride attack. Road salt, ocean spray, etc.
When this happens, the oxide layer is removed. The resulting chromium & nickel chloride. These are purplish blue & green, respectively.
Now, add that to the iron now not protected by the oxide layer oxidizing to reddish brown, and we have a mix of purpl, , and green. Mix those colors as paint & we get brown!
304 was a poor choice. They should have used 400 series stainless as in high quality flatware. Not as durable, but doesn't change to a weird color. There's much less nickel.

And to be clear no sarcasm tag, because I really do appreciate the detail.

Have a neighborhood get together on Friday, and I guide the convo to the cyber truck and be ready with this fact!

It's a celebration of my B-i-L's life. He died about 5 weeks ago.
I think about 20 people are coming.
An old friend of his is coming, and she has backing tracks on her laptop. I hooked up our old practice PA in the backyard.
My wife wants me to play & sing too. Not enthusiastic, but I'll do it. Already tuned my 6 & 12 string guitars. No keyboards though. That setup is too much work.
Have fun at your party.
BTW: I did a lot of scale-up & design around chemical processes that were really hard on metals, either for chloride attacks or extremely aggressive acidity. I learned more about metallurgy than I ever wanted to know!

2. I saw my second one this afternoon, the first about a week ago (Dallas, TX and surrounding counties)

Though I'm certainly no fan of their appearance, I'm honestly just not a fan of any car's appearance after the mid-seventies. Gimme the look of an old '74 cutlass or '73 Monte Carlo and I'll get excited over cars again. These days they're all just variations on a shared ugliness to me. Though I admt, this Tesla truck is not just ugly as sin, but damned weird looking.

15. I'm a Miata fan. Not really a "car person" but I just fell in love with them. I've owned 3.

My latest is a "Fiata"... the Abarth 124 Spider. It's just a beautiful car.

Of course... that's roadsters for ya. They haven't changed all that much over the decades.

Not only are these things ugly, but owners have been reporting a lot of problems.

I have seen that before. But, no, these folks are really shooting up their cars. How crazy.

8. A short story
Sat May 18, 2024, 06:58 PM

I think this anecdote was in Travels With Charlie by John Steinbeck. He traveled across the U.S. with his dog, and struck up conversations with people he met. He told the story of a farmer who, right before hunting season, attached deers antlers to a bale of hay and set it among trees, partially obscured. At th end of the hunting season, he'd dig enough lead shot out of the bale to make bullets for a year.

If the bullet holes are real (not the 3-D stickers), maybe we have a clue of why the truck was shot up

and if you're driving this piece of expensive scrap metal should you be ready to be shot at?

Instead of horns on the front, I'd like to see it loaded with cow manure
