Don't fall for MAGA's "election integrity" con job
Journalists — and the rest of us — need to quit parroting Republicans' transparent lies about voting

(Salon) Can journalists please stop repeating the term “election integrity” just because Republicans insist on saying it?

Heck, if they don't offer credible evidence (because there is none), I wouldn’t even quote Republicans when they use the term, at least not without setting the record straight. Election laws being put into place in Republican-controlled states have nothing to do with integrity and everything to do with denying citizens their right to vote and intimidating election officials and volunteers.

If the idea that Joe Biden stole the 2020 election — which he won by more than 7 million votes, with a 306-232 electoral vote victory — is Trump’s big lie, then Republican efforts to ensure “election integrity” around the country are lies metastasizing from the malignant tumor Trump introduced into our democracy. Trump’s con about election fraud is intended to succeed where his multifaceted effort to overturn the 2020 election failed.

You might ask the phony Republican electors charged in Michigan, Georgia and Nevada, or the 10 Republicans who admitted to what they did in the Wisconsin civil case. 2. Pretty sloppy journalism by FXN

Biden got 7 million+ more votes than Trump. Every one of those, if fraudulent, would be a felony count. So that's 7 million felonies committed, with no indictments. This would be the greatest unprosecuted crime in US history, if it were actually committed (a big "if" there). It would not be the sort of thing you would move on from if supported by evidence. And yet, we've largely moved on.

So, the reality is that there is in fact evidence, for the contrary position. There's what's called evidence of absence.

3. Trump didn't even win the popular vote in 2016

& he squeaked the EC with fewer than 80K votes between four states but you don't hear our side calling election fraud.

Poor losers is what the media needs to start calling them. We didn't go from secure elections to millions of fraudulent votes in one cycle. JFC, media, do your damned jobs before the orange menace makes all of you irrelevant.

7. Look what Governor Kemp pushed in Georgia

Still stung by the results in 2020 and the 2021 runoff Senate losses to Warnock and Ossoff (not to mention Stacy Abram's remarkable voter registration/vote turnout efforts), Kemp has pushed through sweeping 'election reforms' empowering voter eligibility challenges, requiring more audits all in the name of the dubious phrase election integrity.

His pitiful reasoning?

Because Joe Biden specifically and Democrats in general are determined to destroy the sanctity and security of the ballot box.

They're not fooling anyone.
