9. The Church in America is extremely polarized and divided. A schism...

...seems likely within the next decade if current trends continue. The far right of the Church (including the clergy) made common cause with like-minded forces of the religious right who are not their friends (the often viciously anti-Catholic evangelicals) over Kulturkampf issues (abortion, LGBT+, etc.). Now they are reaping the consequences as the Church is riven with warring factions.
