An officer was called to help a blind, deaf dog. He shot him instead.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/05/24/missouri-police-kill-blind-dog/

Free archived link: https://archive.ph/rQbun

Teddy, a fluffy, 13-pound white Shih Tzu mix, stumbled around a stranger’s yard. Deaf and blind, he used his nose as a guide, eventually laying down in the grass.

He was lost. But the stranger gave him water. He licked her hand and leg, spending the next 45 minutes of the sunny Sunday lolling in the expansive Sturgeon, Mo., yard.

Then a police officer pulled up. Within minutes, he had fired two shots. Teddy, a beloved 5-year-old pet, was left lifeless. His owner, 35-year-old Nick Hunter, found out through a phone call that his playful, sock-eating dog had been killed.

(snip)

Sturgeon police officer Myron Woodson initially told Hunter he was not worried about the dog harming him or anyone else, and instead thought Teddy was an injured stray that needed to be put down. But on Monday, in a move some residents viewed as twisting reality to skirt accountability, the city released a statement alleging the officer feared the dog could have had a disease.

and then took off before the owner arrived. His blue line gang brothers who had remained on the scene wanted the owner’s name and birth date.

So they could run him for warrants! After they shot his dog that was minding its own business in a fenced yard. 😡😤

There are so many stories like this. Basically they do it because they know cops never get in trouble for it. Sometimes their department has to pay the cost of the dog and that's it.

The most disgusting thing about this incident is the city's reaction to one of their police officers' shooting a friendly, innocent little dog, (who happened to be blind, deaf and lost).

"The city said Thursday that after reviewing the incident, it determined that (Officer) Woodson acted appropriately. Neither the city nor the police department responded to the Washington Post's questions about why the officer used deadly force."

"He acted appropriately"??

I don't think so!

Should have checked to see if the dog had an ID on his collar or taken him to a vet to have him scanned for a chip. Just pulling out his pistol and killing a defenseless dog is brutally uncaring and reckless.

If I was this officer, I'd avoid visiting local restaurants for a long time. I can guarantee anything sent to his table will include the chef's saliva. It would include mine if I was there.

If this happened in front of the person who fed the dog, that person should sue the officer and the whole department. It would have been traumatizing and a defining moment in that person's life.

Do you look up to cops and think they are heroes ???

I find them to be evil.

There is no situation that cops can't make worse.

They are not peacekeepers.

They don't protect us.

They only care about their safety.

They are trained liars.

They lie to cover for one another's crimes.

They deserve zero respect.

They have earned zero respect from me.

They make the roads unsafe to travel.

They are road pirates and they kill people over simple traffic stops.

They kill people sleeping in their homes.

Do you feel safer ?????????????
