That's classy.
Why is he doing that?

(80,416 posts)He has not gone off the total deep end like some of the nut jobs.
He did OK with covid issues.
But yes on other issues he is terrible.
DeWine values protocol.
Throwing a sitting US president off the Ohio ballot is apparently a bridge too far for him.

(47,365 posts)Either democrats vote to prohibit spending by foreign nationals, or republicans won't let Biden on the ballot.
So I very much doubt he has good motives whatsoever.

(47,365 posts)The condition for allowing Biden on the ballot seems to be forcing democrats to vote to prohibit spending by foreign nationals.

(7,652 posts)and he doesn't really care. His political career is coming to a close.
I'm not a big fan of Mike DeWine but I like how he makes Husted and LaRose squirm every once in a while.

(47,365 posts)Methinks he wants to make democrats look bad, if they refuse to vote to prohibit spending by foreign nationals in exchange for allowing Biden on the ballot.

(47,365 posts)Democrats don't want to vote to prohibit campaign spending by foreign nationals (there is a rich gentleman that donates a lot of money to liberal causes in OH), and republicans will allow Biden to be on the ballot if democrats vote to prohibit campaign spending by foreign nationals.

Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)...he's a republican.
It's a little bit shocking that more than a few Democrats are so easily willing to instantly believe a rightwinger has suddenly become decent.

(20,636 posts)He's never offered up an endorsement and I've never heard a word about DJT from him.
He did a presser for this and admonished his fellow republicans in pretty harsh terms. Says it's "unacceptable".
Oh! and he's including the ballot inclusion in a piece of legislation that bans foreign spending on ballot initiatives. He's still sore about that abortion measure we passed last year.
He's still a stone cold conservative republican and I would not leave your health care rights where he can get his hands on them, but Trump can be pretty off-putting to many.

(3,363 posts)...and I totally agree with your assessments. He was one of the better R governors on covid, but I didn't buy his and his wife's "benevolent grandparents" act in their ads on Issue 1. In other words, a broken clock is right twice a day!!

(20,636 posts)I couldn't believe he beat Strickland. (was it Strickland?).
He also accepted Obama's Medicaid plan offered in the ACA, one of the few republican governors to do so.

(3,363 posts)DeWine does have that milquetoast demeanor about him.
Think. Again.

He's a rightwinger who sees an opportunity to get something that benefits him.

(47,365 posts)He is not doing it out of goodness of his heart. Not at all.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)...if his heart had any goodness in it at all, he would be repulsed that his name is followed by a big "R" and he would denounce the anti-American ship-of-fools that is the republican "party".
