was watching the lying bastard try to read the crap somebody wrote on the teleprompter as fast as he could and force the folks there to hear it.
I hope that was just the beginning of folks booing him off the stage at his appearances.

(11,780 posts)Im a little surprised hed venture into a place that his goons hadnt set things up before hand. Im hoping well see more of this kind of response. He is a LOSER.
Think. Again.

(53,214 posts)Libertarians. I really thought he had better political instincts than that. He is usually good at avoiding in-person ridicule and embarrassment. I wonder if some campaign advisor got fired last night.
It was a disaster

PatSeg
(53,214 posts)so that I never forget what a constant danger he is. Also, I need the reassurance that he is truly losing it.
We are witnessing history every day and I know how easy it is to forget. There is a reason why in Europe they keep the memory of Hitler and the Nazis alive. Often "Never again" can fade over time and history ends up repeating itself.
He sure is a cult leader

(53,214 posts)It is extraordinary that one actually made it to the White House, especially one who is so incompetent and quite frankly stupid. Well of course he did get a lot of help from Putin. There's no way he would have made it so far on his own.
I guess I underestimated how many gullible "poorly educated" people there are in our society. I think even Trump was surprised by his unfathomable following.

PatSeg
(53,214 posts)It is too easy to forget. Memories are funny things and they fade over time, especially if they are really bad ones.
I think we all have a problem believing all of it was actually real. It was so beyond comprehension.

(81,266 posts)His minders know he loves positive attention all the time.
Did they not do their homework?
Did Trump override their advice like he is doing with his defense attorneys?
Did someone set him up.
Yes someone might get fired.
PatSeg
(53,214 posts)I'm rather picturing that perhaps he overrode "their advice like he is doing with his defense attorneys". That really sounds like Trump. Even if he DID make the final decision, he'll still blame someone else though.

(81,266 posts)He has to break up a potential RFK Jr and Libertarian alignment.

(53,214 posts)are getting immune to his outrageous stories. They often look disinterested and bored as if it is only going in one ear and out the other.
He's lost his pizzazz. Not everything can be the worst, the best, the most powerful, the most corrupt, "the world has ever seen". He's overplayed his hand.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)I think his entertainment value is on a downward spiral.
And each truth bomb from all his legal problems chips away at his support.
PatSeg
(53,214 posts)and you know on some level, even Trump knows that. He milked that scam for all it was worth and if he wasn't trying to avoid jail, maybe he could have let it go and moved on. So many cons yet to explore.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)Total immunity and all US assets at his fingertips.
And the assets of the countries who are bribing him.
Most powerful man in the world.
Unlimited power and money
This is like a drug to Trump. Like giving a heroin addict unlimited supplies of drugs.
And yes it is a get out of jail free card.
Yes if he had any sense he would have just moved on to his next con.
PatSeg
(53,214 posts)POTUS was the ultimate gig. Nothing could top that other than perhaps ruler of the world. Pretty hard for someone like Trump to resist even if he'd have been better off without it.
In the end, nothing would ever really make him happy as long as he was stuck being himself, a person he really didn't like.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)He is kicking himself because he didn't realize how much he could steal when he was in the WH.
Now he understands the levers of power much better.
Yes it is like an addiction. There is no amount of money or adoration that will fill the hole in Trump's soul.
PatSeg
(53,214 posts)authoritarian leaders, one they appear to have no control over, because the power they crave will never satisfy their needs.
I think you're right. I'm sure Trump IS kicking himself for all the missed opportunities during this four year term.

(81,266 posts)Putin is a good example. The richest man in the world, worth about $300 billion, probably more.
Has total permanent power as leader of Russia. Despite being a brutal dictator, the world gave him the status
of respectable world leader.
But it was not enough for him. He must rape and plunder another country for more power and wealth.
Has his eyes on the rest of Europe. He wants to be a global superpower.
Even if he achieves his goals, it will not be enough for him.
PatSeg
(53,214 posts)What do you want when you have everything? If you're the richest man in the world, getting even richer is hardly satisfying.
Reminds me of a bored General Zod in Superman II:
Ursa: You are master of all you survey.
General Zod: [bored] So I was yesterday. And the day before. I win. I always win. Is there no one on this planet to even challenge me?
There is never enough if you are craving the wrong thing.

(53,214 posts)He really doesn't like taking advice from anyone. I'll bet he's making most of the decisions himself. I remember when he bragged about ignoring political advisors and doing things "my way" and how his way led to victory.
Yes, he is truly delusional. In his failing mind, he saw the Libertarians succumbing to his charms and endorsing his sorry ass. His imagination must be a really bizarre and terrifying place.

He went to the Arlington cemetery, but asked John Kelly why these people would volunteer for military service, were they suckers and losers, there's nothing in it for them?

(998 posts)Trump will say anything they put in his teleprompter.
Basically his only goal in life is to become President again so he can shut down any criminal prosecutions and avoid prison.
He's got a lot of intelligent, evil people behind him who know if he gets back in power he'll sign any executive order put in front of him.
The reason Trump seems so manic is he fears becoming a convicted felon in a few weeks. Fingers crossed the jury finds him guilty.
