38. My RW neighbor was a teacher aide in a program

that pays a small stipend to seniors who act as "grandparents" to assist teachers with grade school children. Her husband is even farther right than she is.

Immediately after Sandyhook she told me how awful it was that now the liberals would try to take away people's guns. I asked how she felt about the children who had just been slaughtered. Her answer: "That's no excuse for taking away people's guns."

So I asked, "What if it had been your classroom full of children?" She glared at me, obviously angry at me for asking that and said, "Well I just hope nobody would take away guns from law-abiding people if that happened."

Her ideological absolute coldness gave me a chill just listening to her.
