(71,897 posts)... to bed early. For about a half minute decided that I wanted it over and I didn't care what the verdict was. But I know. This is just the opening battle and the harder ones are soon to come. I just wish the media would use reporters and cut all the experts and talking heads. I am getting sick of all the "journalists".

(53,544 posts)One is Misty Marris who was on the 10 to 12 hour today. She may have been on the same previous days.
Then there is Ari Melbur with his Republican attorneys or other profession.
If I have the number I believe in federal courts hung juries only occur about 6%. Courts in general about 72% result in conviction.

(46,136 posts)Not sure why folks are scared of opinions being voiced that they don't like. Come to think of it, there are plenty of posts on DU that have taken a doom and gloom view of the case. Should those be banned?

(53,544 posts)A matter of days.

(25,471 posts)Not disagreeing with you, just curious why you think this.
The jury instructions alone are 55 pages. If there are disagreements over a count it'll take time to come to an agreement.
Or maybe it's not as difficult as I'm thinking it is.

(53,544 posts)The checks, invoices, entry in book involving funds from the revocable trust. They were not signed by Trump. But he still arranged it.
The rest were from his account and he signed them.
It is a matter of tying Pecker, Cohen and Trump together. Which the jurors have already requested that detail.

(81,189 posts)The jury needs to take their time.
There are two attorneys on the jury who will most likely want to make sure every legal detail is correct.

Michael Thomas van der Veen
He also represented Jan 6 defendants.
In 2022, Trump's Save America political action committee paid van der Veen, Hartshorn and Levin $1.4 million in legal fees.

(20,042 posts)4 hours of deliberating so far.
I viewed it as a good sign that the jury wanted to have read backs of David Pecker's statements and only 1 Cohen. Give them some more time they would have to come out and say that they are deadlocked and then the judge will tell them to go back and do more deliberations so we will definitely know if they Deadlock.

(35,074 posts)I figured there was at least one hold out. They've been in that courtroom for weeks and I'm sure they're ready to get back to their lives.
However, I'm still hoping that they all agree that he's guilty but they just don't want to announce it right away from fear of being called biased. Fingers crossed.

(28,355 posts)For a variety of reasons they will go through the case and methodically discuss each count. This for them is quite likely, the most important single thing theyve ever been involved in, and will make a cautious decision, assuming that all 12 are who they say they are. That may or may not be the case but even I would absolutely want to review each charge and the evidence.
