Hey, I'm happy for a felony conviction. The pundits might very well be right about light sentencing. Silent3 May 2024 #5

insulted the judge, insulted the legal process, repeatedly violated the gag order, etc.

Why should the judge give him lenient sentences?

Ran a fake charity, defrauded his neice out of her inheritance, defrauded a charity, double tapped credit cards of his donors in 2020, ran a fake university . . .

What mitigating factors. The dude is a career criminal.

Those things are factors that are considered in sentencing, and it's not a bad thing for people to understand that.

It's absolutely true that a lot of first-time felons of Trump's age wouldn't get jail time. That would be equal treatment for Trump, not special treatment.

The main countervailing reason for a harsher sentence would be the seriousness of the purpose of and motive for the crime, to gain the Presidency of the United states. If the judge can legally take that into account, then we might be talking jail time...

...some very, very long time after an incredibly slow appeals process.
