Why should the judge give him lenient sentences?

What mitigating factors. The dude is a career criminal.

(15,909 posts)It's absolutely true that a lot of first-time felons of Trump's age wouldn't get jail time. That would be equal treatment for Trump, not special treatment.
The main countervailing reason for a harsher sentence would be the seriousness of the purpose of and motive for the crime, to gain the Presidency of the United states. If the judge can legally take that into account, then we might be talking jail time...
...some very, very long time after an incredibly slow appeals process.
