(81,964 posts)The court allows for appeals if new evidence has come to light, legal rights were violated during the original conviction, or a judicial error happened.
So yes if they reverse a conviction, the person is no longer guilty, no longer a felon.
I am not an attorney so maybe someone else can chime in.
This is my understanding of the law.

I consider him a felon, and I think he wins an appeal strictly on a technicality.
Hence, 12 people thought he did it. I think he's a felon right now.
His cult, obviously, would disagree.

I think the jury got blinded by smoke & mirrors, and the prosecution made a few big mistakes. Because of that a guilty man went free.
He did lose the wrongful death suit, so I don't think our opinion is far from accurate.
