(7,790 posts)is meeting now to set the cut rates for 2024-2025? They're already planning it. I truly feel Biden will win this Nov... but it won't be for lack of meddling by certain fascist countries!

(13,538 posts)If they hadn't cut production last year gas would be much cheaper NOW

(7,790 posts)Keeping what they've done so far this year, and adding more production cuts on top of that.
I do have one question that I guess should be obvious, but I can't get my head around it... Aren't they cutting off their nose to spite their own face? They slash production like they're talking about, and that means less money for their countries. I know SA has had some unrest economically lately, anyway... and Bonesaw is now going to make it even worse? Other than what they think they might get from T* if they get him re-elected, what's the upside to this? I'm missing something...!
Justice matters.
(9,787 posts)To keep bringing chaos and violence in the world's most powerful country and dismantle NATO.
For that, they'll do anything in their powers in hopes of putting him back in the White House.

(7,790 posts)trying to set up his "chaos" colleges set on spreading anarchy across the globe, really had a mobilizing effect, even when (as in Italy) the right to build the "college" was denied.

(13,538 posts)OPEC has always had the problem of countries NOT sticking with cuts & it seems like now they're sticking together more. Although I hear Iran's production is UP. And with VZ oil not on the open mkt that makes things even worse. Along with russian oil restricted.

(7,790 posts)But explain to me how on one hand we're touting how we've got more oil coming out of the ground in the US today than ever before, and so much, in fact, we're exporting tons of it. OTOH, OPEC has us by the short and curlies.
If they want to drill, baby, drill... and they've been doing just that since Bush jr, then WHY are we allowing them to sell it overseas and NOT sell it all to their own country to kill our dependence on overseas oil? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. I'd tell em, no more oil out of the ground until we are overflowing with $1.00/gal gas here in the U.S. But I readily admit I'm not financially savvy... thus, I'm poor despite working my whole life. I also know our oil people are OPEC evil. (sigh)

(13,538 posts)we haven't built a large refinery in decades. And oil from some fields isnt able to be refined here because of its makeup. One reason why we used to import Venezuelan oil; it was easier to refine than some of our own oil..
And while it many not be a popular thing to point out here, oil companies have been reluctant to invest in huge new ones because they dont know where the law is going.
I agree with you though, make it a point to publicly tell these companies we need more US gasoline production.
This is a losing issue in Nov if it doesnt improve

(7,790 posts)for everyone, given climate change. I'm in the midwest, and we've had one hell of a spring so far. Not that we're not used to storms or tornadoes in the spring in tornado alley, but everything is so much larger and more dangerous. Somehow, we have to get off this addiction. For me and my part, it'll probably mean parking and never driving again. I can't afford an EV, and no one is going to give a loan to people like hubs and me who survive on SS and a small annuity -- if we'd even be dumb enough to try for one! (lol)

(13,538 posts)because China is opening coal fired plants every week & India's coal emissions are growing every year; likely to double by 2050. US total emissions are far lower now than 20 yrs ago with a LOT more people.
Your point about affording an EV is part of the problem of the govt trying to force feed us on these. If anything shouldve been pushed its a hybrids. Pushing total electric just makes us MORE dependent on China.

What do you suppose it is like to live in an alternate reality? Can I live in one where trump was never born? Not sure how much that would change after late 1900's, but I would like to at least visit.

(9,852 posts)market volatility more than market level. High market volatility concentrates wealth to the already wealthy, those in professional class with 401Ks also benefit. High market levels are good but spikes and drops are illusions.
Shouldn't need to say this but the economy under POTUS Biden is much better than what I thought could be achieved. Some are being left behind unfortunately. GOP would be far worse and probably criminal. Same as it ever was. alas.

Stock markets like certainty. (So I would have expected the stock market to go up the day after a verdict - whehter the verdict was guilty, not guilty, or mixed). I also would have expected it to go down if they returned with a hung jury.
