Deleting tapes isn't illegal, just like paying a porn star for silence isn't illegal

It’s the context and doing so in furtherance of a crime that makes both illegal…even Nixon (ultimately) had to concede that

If you are notified that tapes, or any other information/evidence in your possession is subject to legal action, and you destroy it, that is a crime.

But what are we talking about?
