The Senate will vote Wednesday on the Right to Contraception Act, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced as Democrats look to squeeze Republicans once again over abortion and reproductive rights, Punchbowl News reports.
Schumer also said Senate Democrats plan to focus heavily on abortion throughout June, which marks two years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

(842 posts)The secret ballot is the backbone of the election process.
The only thing standing between us and another Trump presidency is the women of America. They are the real swing vote. This is where they rise up and take back their rights. In the privacy of the voting booth a women is free to vote her conscience. There are a large number of R women that are going to do just that, and vote for Biden and maybe a few other Democrats down ballot.
On January 21, 2024, the first thing a re-elected Biden and the new Democratic majority in Congress must do is to begin the process of restoring full rights of citizenship to America's women. The Biden campaign must repeat that promise every day and to name every one of those reactionary Repugs that wish to see women remain second class citizens. I am confident that many of those Rs will be voted out as well.

(2,289 posts)...would do a little more research about candidates, too many of whom are servile toadies for various religious right agendas (radtrad-ism, fundamentalism, etc.). There have even been a couple conservative Democrats like that who sneaked through an election or two. (Anyone remember Dan Lipinski? Well, at least he's gone!). It's hard to believe in 2024 that voters--even "pro-life" voters--would willingly vote to have contraception outlawed. And it's shocking when you meet a few of them--not all are your stereotypical EWTN viewers who are way past their childbearing years.

Schumer is trying to get them on record for voting against a women's right to use contraception.
Actually, I think a few non-crazies on the R side will vote for it & then be able to hang it's failure to move forward on Jihnsin & the troglodytes in the House.
Probably a good political move
